Selena Gomez and fiancé Benny Blanco aren’t planning their wedding quite yet.
During their appearance on the Today show on Friday, March 21, the newly engaged couple discussed their first-ever joint album, I Said I Love You First, and shared why they’re in no rush to plan their wedding.
“So now that the album’s done, do we move on to wedding planning now?” anchor Craig Melvin asked, to which Gomez replied, “No.”
The singer and actress, 32, explained that she and Blanco, 37, putting wedding planning on hold is not because they’re not excited for their big day, but because their busy schedules are taking priority at the moment.
“I’m actually shooting season 5 of Only Murders right now,” Gomez continued. “You know, he has to do some work stuff, too. To be honest, I’m just enjoying us in this moment, and yeah, then we’ll get to start the craziness.”
“Enjoying the engagement,” Melvin said.
Blanco agreed that he and Gomez can’t start thinking about their wedding when they haven’t even paused to enjoy their engagement.
“Oh my God, we haven’t even had time to enjoy it,” the producer said. “Are you kidding me? We go from this, she’s shooting Only Murders, we’re promoting the album. She was at the Oscars. It’s crazy.”
He added that they “have no idea” on a potential wedding date. After being asked if the nuptials could happen this year, Gomez candidly responded, “I don’t even know if we have time.”

The Only Murders in the Building star does know that she wants their wedding day “to be pretty casual.” Meanwhile, Blanco has one wedding must-have.
“Pickles, I think,” he said.
“What, the pickle slushie?” Gomez asked.
Blanco clarified that in a conversation with his fiancée she once remarked, “I want to have little sandwiches with pickles for my friends.” This jogged Gomez’s memory, but pickle sandwiches might not make it on their wedding menu because she said “that’s so weird.”
“She really is the cheapest date in the book,” Blanco said with a laugh. “Everything is real easy.”
Years before their relationship turned romantic, Gomez and Blanco released their first song together, “I Can’t Get Enough,” in March 2019. They later started dating in June 2023. A year and a half later, Gomez announced their engagement and shared photos of her marquise diamond ring via Instagram on Dec. 11, 2024, writing, “forever begins now..”
Gomez and Blanco’s first musical album as a couple, I Said I Love You First, arrived on Friday, March 21.
