Selena Gomez has picked up a few habits from Steve Martin and Martin Short.
In a new interview with Hot Ones on Thursday, March 20, the “Rare” musician opened up about how she’s joined in on some of her Only Murders in the Building costars’ activities
After host Sean Evans asked Gomez what “old man tendency” she’s picked up from Martin, 79, and Short, 74, the actress/singer had a short list.
“I sit there and read the news with them every day,” she told Evans, before Gomez’s fiancé Benny Blanco noted that their eating habits are now similar.
“They eat the same thing every day,” she said. “And now I eat the same thing every day. So, it’s either a tuna sandwich with Dijon mustard or sushi. And now all I eat is a chicken salad sandwich. And for some reason, I’m excited to get my meal next to theirs.”
Elsewhere in the conversation, Gomez discussed the surprise success of her 2020 hit “Lose You to Love Me,” which was her first No. 1 song.
“To be honest I haven’t had like really any number ones so I don’t really think I’ve ever cared — until ‘Lose You to Love Me,'” she said. “I thought the song was gonna be hopefully relatable and beautiful and honest but I did not expect it to do what it did. And it was much bigger than me.”
She added” “It had nothing to do with what it actually meant. It ended up being a song for people that felt the way that I felt and maybe turned it into another version of a song that suited them.
For Gomez, it was “really powerful.”
“I think that’s something I’ll always remember, and I believe that was my first number one so I was very happy,” she concluded.

Alongside the announcement, the couple — who got engaged in December 2024 — shared the first single “Scared of Loving You. Since then, they’ve dropped “Call Me When You Break Up” with Gracie Abrams and “Sunset Blvd,” alongside a sultry music video.
On Wednesday, March 19, they also previewed their latest song “Bluest Flame” during a surprise appearance at the A24 x IMAX screening of Spring Breakers in New York City.
