Selena Gomez previously discussed how her lupus treatment has caused her weight to fluctuate.
As social media critics pointed out the actressâ slimmer frame during Sundayâs 2025 SAG Awards, a February 2023 TikTok video resurfaced in which the âEmilia PĂ©rezâ star addressed comments about her body.
Gomez explained at the time that the medications she takes to manage her lupus â a disease that occurs when your bodyâs immune system attacks your own tissues and organs â can cause regular changes to her weight.Â
âWhen Iâm taking [the medicine], I tend to hold a lot of water weight, and that happens very normally,â she shared. âAnd then when Iâm off of it, I tend to kind of lose weight.â
During a 2023 episode of the Apple TV+ series âDearâŠ,â Gomez, 32, spoke more about her constant weight changes.
âMy weight would constantly fluctuate because I would be on certain medications,â she explained. âAnd obviously, people just ran with it⊠It was like they couldnât wait to find a thing to bring me down. I was being shamed for gaining weight because of my lupus.â
Speculation about Gomezâs weight reignited after she hit the red carpet at the 2025 SAG Awards in Los Angeles Sunday night.
The âCalm Downâ singer stunned in a navy blue off-the-shoulder Celine gown and strappy sandals as she posed for photos.
Fans quickly took to social media to discuss how much slimmer Gomez appeared, with some netizens accusing the actress of taking the Hollywood-loved Type II diabetes drug Ozempic to achieve her figure.
âozempic and plastic surgery are saving her career,â wrote one user on X.
âShe must be on the ozempic bandwagon,â added another.
âSheâs on that ozempicccc đ,â claimed a third person.
Page Six has reached out to Gomezâs rep for comment but did not immediately hear back.
Gomez and her âOnly Murders in the Buildingâ co-stars took home the award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series inside the awards ceremony Sunday evening.
The Disney star took the stage and delivered a heartfelt and hilarious speech to the star-studded audience.
âWait, we never win. This is so weird,â she said while holding her award.
âWell, [Martin Short] and [Steve Martin] arenât here because, you know, they donât really care,â Gomez joked.
âThank you to Marty and Steve for helping raise me. I genuinely am just so grateful to everybody â the writers, the entire team. Everyone deserves this, and I take it home for all of us.â
