Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco Drop Nostalgic Pop Song with Gracie Abrams, Who Says Working with Couple Is a ‘Yes Forever’

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s second single from their album is here.

The couple, collaborating with Gracie Abrams, released “Call Me When You Break Up” and the accompanying music video on Thursday, Feb. 20. The bubblegum pop song is the first off Blanco and Gomez’s upcoming album I Said I Love You First.

Gomez, 32, and Abrams, 25, sing in a selfie video for the music video. The promo photo featuring them in matching bobs and T-shirts and Blanco, 36, is giving fans major nostalgia.

One fan photoshopped the Disney Channel logo onto the picture, evoking Gomez’s Disney days. “wait it’s kinda giving “and you’re watching Disney Channel!’ lol,” another agreed.

Gomez and Blanco teased new music earlier this year and released their first single from the album “Scared of Loving You” on Feb. 13. They previously worked in 2015 for “Kill Em with Kindness” and “Same Old Love,” on Gomez’s album Revival.

Blanco and Abrams, meanwhile, previously collaborated for the 2021 song “Unlearn.”

The musicians spoke with Zane Lowe on Apple Music on their new song and embracing their shared love of music.

“For as long as I’ve cared about music, both of their work [Gomez and Blanco] has been in my life,” Abrams said. “So anything that they want from me is a yes forever. And I just felt really grateful for the opportunity. And also just the song was immediately so stuck in my head as soon as I heard it for the first time.”

“And of course, the opportunity to write my verse on it just happened so quickly, which I think is such a testament to how addicting the song is I think.”

Blanco raved about working with his fiancée and how the album came to be. “This was just an idea that started in our bedroom and it was like, “Let’s just make something fun.” And then it actually was really good, and I was like, holy, we have to do this.”

“And all the friends who made this album with us, it wasn’t like, ‘Today we’re getting together and we’re making a hit song.’ I would be like, ‘Hey, Julia, Justin, you want to come over? We’ve written for 15 years and so have you with Selena. Everything felt right, and it almost felt too good.”

Gomez felt the same. “There’s nothing that makes me more proud than to stand by everything I’ve done and love it deeply and really just pour my heart into it,” she told Lowe.

“And that applies to everything in my life. And I think this whole experience has been cathartic and beautiful, and I got to do it with my best friend.”

Per a press release, I Said I Love You First celebrates Blanco and Gomez’s love story and gives fans ” a unique window into their relationship.”

“The album came together organically as a direct result of the comfort that they both felt when working together creatively, allowing them to produce art that authentically reflects their experiences. It chronicles their entire story—before they met, falling in love and looking to what the future holds.”

I Said I Love You First drops on Friday, March 21.
