Has the search for Savannah Guthrieâs mother Nancy Guthrie reached an impasse?
The investigation into the 84-year-oldâs abduction from her home is now entering its third week, Nancy having last been seen on January 31.
No suspect or person has yet to be identified in the over two weeks that she has been missing, despite investigators having previously detained, and later released, someone they questioned, and now, the sheriffâs department has suggested the case could take âyearsâ to resolve.
Chris Nanos, the Arizona sheriff leading the search for Nancy, who has also had the help of the FBI, speaking with the New York Times, noted there are about 400 people working on the case.
He maintained they are still âlooking hardâ to find her, and are certain that they will, just not when.
âMaybe itâs an hour from now,â he said. âMaybe itâs weeks or months or years from now. But we wonât quit. Weâre going to find Nancy. Weâre going to find this guy.â
The sheriff also noted that there have been moments where the team thought they had finally gotten close, like when they recently detained a man, a food delivery driver who has since maintained to not know anything about the case, but that turned out to be another setback.
âItâs exhausting, these ups and downs,â he confessed, though emphasized: âBut we will keep moving forward.â
