Do Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jennifer Love Hewitt have beef?
The âCruel Intentionsâ star set tongues wagging on Wednesday when she spoke at the âDexter: Original Sinâ premiere about the upcoming âI Know What You Did Last Summerâ reboot.
While the actress, 47, was excited to talk about the projectâs âincredible castâ and âfun script,â the interview took an awkward turn when the Extra reporter asked about Hewitt.
âI know Jennifer Love Hewitt said that sheâs possibly returning,â the journalist said. âYou canât tell [us]?â
Gellar silently shrugged before stepping back and saying she has ânothing to do with that.â
Social media users had a heyday with the red carpet clip, with many believing the âBuffy the Vampire Slayerâ alum was âdefinitely throwing shadeâ at the 45-year-old.
âLook at that face! She hates her so bad,â one person speculated via X, while another wrote, âThis seems so shady LOL.â
A third joked, âI thought she was an actress? Girl⊠act.â
Gellar and Hewittâs reps have yet to respond to Page Sixâs requests for comment.
The previous day, Hewitt appeared on the âIâve Never Said This Before With Tommy DiDarioâ podcast and spoke about Gellar.
Hewitt brought up the alleged âfightingâ on her own, saying, âI root for her and [husband] Freddie [Prinze Jr.] and think itâs the cutest thing in the world that theyâve been married for 100 years and have kids.
âItâs adorable,â the â9-1-1â star continued. âSo itâs been really funny to see all this [negative] stuff that people think.â
Hewitt and Gellar co-starred in âI Know What You Did Last Summerâ in 1997, playing Julie James and Helen Shivers, respectively.
News broke that a reboot was in the works when Gellar posted an Instagram photo from the set in November, which she admittedly got âin a little bit of troubleâ for.
In a recent interview with Page Six, Hewitt told us she was interested in being part of the project and confirmed they were âin talks,â but it was a matter of making the shooting schedule work.
âFingers crossed right now,â she said, adding, âI do want it to happen. It was a fun it was a fun thing for me. And I feel like at, you know, 45, it would be really cool to go back to something. I started when I was 18, which is crazy to think about, but I think it would be fun.â
