Sarah Jessica Parker was honored with the Carol Burnett Award in the days leading up to the 2026 Golden Globe Awards.
The actress, 60, accepted the accolade during the new CBS and Paramount+ annual prime-time special Golden Eve, which aired on Thursday, January 8. Before accepting the award, Parker was honored by her husband, Matthew Broderick as well as friends Colman Domingo and Kristin Davis.
“To my beloved family, my brilliant husband, Matthew Broderick, who has been my husband for just shy of 30 years, who was giving me a family discount and all access pass to his masterclass in acting and comedy,” she said. “And [his] dedication and to the family we have made our divine James, Will, Loretta and Tabitha. Oh God I love you so deeply and admire so much. The people you are becoming that every day at home and at work I want to make you proud.”
Parker also have a shoutout to her parents, team, Sex and the City costars and Burnett herself.
Prior to the Golden Eve broadcast, Parker shared an Instagram photo of her award.
“It’s impossible to simply ‘caption’ my profound gratitude for the evening that sent me back east with this platinum statue in the magical @itscarolburnett’s name,” she wrote on Thursday. “So, if you have about five minutes to hear my deeply heartfelt words and also to see the great Dame @helenmirren be so deservedly honored [with the Cecil B. DeMille Award], tune in tonight to Golden Eve on @cbstv and @paramountplus at 8p ET. X, SJ.”
The Golden Globes announced Parker as the Carol Burnett Award recipient in November 2025, noting in a press release at the time that the honor “recognizes her contributions to the television industry both in front of and behind the camera.”
“Sarah Jessica Parker’s career embodies the very spirit of the Carol Burnett Award,” Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne said in a statement. “Her trailblazing impact on television and her dedication to storytelling across stage and screen have left an indelible mark on popular culture. We are honored to celebrate her extraordinary contributions to entertainment.”
The Carol Burnett Award was introduced at the Golden Globe Awards in January 2019. The honorary accolade was named after its first recipient, Burnett, now 92. Since then, it has been given to Ellen DeGeneres in 2020, Norman Lear in 2021, Ryan Murphy in 2023 and Ted Danson in 2025.
Beyond her new award, Parker has six Golden Globe wins and 14 nominations under her belt. She previously took home Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for her role as Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004. As a producer of the HBO show, she also earned trophies for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy in 2001 and 2002.
The Golden Eve prime-time special focused on Parker and Mirren’s honorary awards, giving viewers an extended look at their legacy and featuring personal stories, career retrospectives and special presenters. The program is part of Golden Week, a new weeklong Golden Globes-branded experience across Paramount platforms to celebrate the upcoming Golden Globe Awards.
Hosted by Nikki Glaser, the Golden Globes ceremony will take place on Sunday, January 11, at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles and air live on CBS and Paramount+ at 8 p.m. ET.
