Sandra Bullock is having the time of her life this summer before hitting the promotional circuit in just a few weeks.
The actress, 62, will be returning to the big screen for the first time in over four years with the arrival of Practical Magic 2, in theaters starting September 10.
In the lead up, however, the star is making the best of some downtime with her family and friends, taking to social media to share an outtake from recent weeks of doing just that.
“Friends, family, fun, fishies, furries, aaaand work,” she captioned a collection of photos posted on Instagram on August 18, with a pair that even included a rare glimpse of her two kids, Louis, 16, and Laila, 12.
In one photo, the pair, already looking so tall, were seen walking down a gorgeous country road with Sandra’s sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado. In another, Louis and Laila were photographed from a distance while white water rafting, although Sandra covered their faces with fish emojis.
Other snaps included glimpses of her time spent living in the countryside, fishing and playing with her dog, a bouquet of cupcakes for her July 26 birthday, spending time with her friends Jason Bateman and his wife Amanda Anka, sharing a tease of her appearance on Jason’s podcast SmartLess, plus a scene from the upcoming Practical Magic sequel with Joey King.
Fans reacted to the photos with comments like: “Oh, to be Sandra Bullock on a sunny summer day,” and: “You being on Instagram is what society needed,” as well as: “Love this!!! Simple life is a good life. Hope you’re happy.”
After her back-to-back appearances in 2022’s The Lost City and Bullet Train (also serving as a producer on the former), Sandra took a step away from public life and Hollywood to devote time to being a present mom to her two kids. That extended into the grieving period for her longtime partner Bryan Randall, who died of ALS in 2023.
The star is now in the middle of her comeback, not only with Practical Magic 2, in which she reunites with Nicole Kidman, but also talks of a revival of the Speed franchise. And through it all, she has been vocal about wanting to still prioritize time with her kids.
During an appearance at the CNBC Changemakers Summit recently, Sandra also noted that even with her comeback, her kids remain her priority, which was a key factor while filming Practical Magic 2 over the summer.
“I’m not going to sacrifice my time with my kids,” she said during a panel. “They’d be happy if I was gone, I would not.” She continued: “I do not do my best work if my children are struggling or if they need something and I can’t facilitate it. I’m raising my children, not anybody else.”
“But I have the luxury of doing that in this business. So many people don’t. And I understand that grief and that angst when you are at work, going, ‘I’m not where I need to be right now. I’m here being performative and doing my job.’ But guess what? Women can do it. We can do 15 things at one time and get it done.”
