Ryan Lochte’s estranged wife, Kayla Lochte, demanded that she be allowed to review the Olympic swimmer’s financial records in their bitter divorce, Us Weekly can exclusively report.
On Wednesday, October 22, Kayla filed court docs revealing that she issued subpoenas demanding that various banks produce any bank records pertaining to any account held by Ryan or his business.
Her subpoena asked for all documents related to accounts held by Ryan from January 2019 to present and any information on credit cards taken out by the athlete. Kayla also asked questions related to any loans Ryan may have taken out.
Another subpoena was sent to Cash App to determine if Ryan was paid through the financial app and a separate subpoena to the company behind Cameo, the website that allows fans to purchase customized videos from celebrities.
Kayla asked Cameo to tell her how many videos were commissioned from Ryan and the amount of compensation that he earned. Ryan has yet to respond to Kayla’s subpoenas.
Kayla filed for divorce on March 26 after seven years of marriage. She claimed the marriage was “irretrievably broken.” She demanded primary custody of their three minor children: Caiden, 8, Liv, 6, and Georgia, 2.
She accused Ryan of using drugs around the kids during the marriage. In court documents, Kayla alleged she found empty baggies of cocaine around the home that Ryan left behind. She also claimed to have found him using nitrous oxide in front of one of their kids in the garage.
In her motion, Kayla claimed Ryan had failed a couple of drug tests. “[Ryan’s] recurring and repeated irresponsible behavior shows he is unfit to exercise shared parental responsibility, and it would [be] a detriment to the minor children to award the same,” the filing read.
Ryan adamantly denied the allegations he did drugs around their kids when Us contacted him for comment.
“As I acknowledged earlier this week, after my car accident in 2023, I fell into a cycle of depression that led to substance abuse,” Ryan told Us. “I am not denying that I used drugs in my home, but I adamantly deny ever using drugs in front of or around my children, and I have never driven them while intoxicated.”
“I have tried desperately to keep these divorce proceedings private and sealed, not to protect myself, but to protect my children from fabricated allegations that could hurt them. Unfortunately, despite that effort, my ex-wife chose to make this matter public, knowing I was already in intensive rehab,” Ryan added.
“We all make mistakes in life. We are not defined by those mistakes, but by how we learn from them and the work we put in to overcome them. I am extremely sorry for hurting or disappointing anyone along the way,” Ryan added. “My focus now is on my recovery, on being the best father I can be, and on moving forward in a way that keeps my kids safe, supported, and loved.”
In recent docs, Kayla took issue with Ryan and his new girlfriend, which Ryan scoffed at in response.
