Rod Stewart has canceled the remainder of his tour after undergoing heart surgery, following several months of health struggles for the 81-year-old star.
The father of eight was forced to cancel all tour dates, with his team revealing that he underwent a successful coronary stent procedure and was putting his energy into recovery.
“Doctors are pleased with his recovery, and Rod is doing very well and has returned to his normal daily activities,” his team said in a statement on social media.
“On the advice of his doctors, he will take the next four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before returning to the stage. Unfortunately, this means he will be unable to continue his current tour dates.”
Rod added that he was “already feeling better and very much on the mend,” before assuring fans that he would return to the stage.
“I want to thank the doctors, nurses and everyone who has taken such wonderful care of me,” he said. “I’m deeply disappointed to miss these shows and sorry to let my fans down, but I look forward to getting back on stage and having a good time with you all again soon.”
Rod’s ongoing health battle
Rod has been traveling the world on his One Last Time tour since 2024, and canceled several shows in recent months due to various health issues. Days before the announcement, the “Maggie May” singer postponed his Cincinnati show “due to an unforeseen but minor medical procedure that required prompt attention”.
He also postponed his Chula Vista show on June 12 due to a battle with an acute upper respiratory infection, laryngitis and vocal fold strain.
A week later, Rod left fans concerned after he was seen using an oxygen tank onstage at his Utah show. He was scheduled for a six-night residency in Las Vegas starting on August 18, followed by shows in Mexico, Minnesota and Illinois.
Rod previously shared his intention to keep performing well into his 80s, having overcome both thyroid cancer and prostate cancer.
His baby joy revealed
The news of Rod’s operation comes just days after his daughter, Ruby Stewart, announced the arrival of her second child, baby Levi, whom she welcomed with her fiancé, Jake Kalick.
Ruby, whom Rod shares with his ex-partner, Kelly Emberg, is also a mom to Otis, three. “We welcomed our little (big) Levi Rhodes Kalick at 6:58 pm on 8/4/26 at 9 lbs 20 inches,” she wrote on social media, alongside several photos of their new addition.
“His name Levi means My Heart and his arrival has grown our hearts to 10 times the size.”
The 39-year-old added: “Seeing Otis and Levi meet for the first time might have been the greatest experience of my life so far…Otis is already the best big brother, and we are already so in love with this sweet boy… Welcome, sweet Levi!”
