Robert Irwin, the son of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, is making pulses race thanks to his steamy underwear campaign for Bonds Australia.
Now the Internet wants to know: Does he have someone special?
“I don’t!” Irwin, 21, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I’m single. It’s funny, I’m at this point in my life where I’m like, I’m so open to that, but I’m just waiting for the stars to align.”
He has an idea of where he might meet his future partner: The Australia Zoo in Queensland, Australia, where he lives and works as an animal conservationist.
“Interestingly, my parents, my sister Bindi met her husband [Chandler Powell] here — everyone met here at our wildlife sanctuary,” he says, noting that his mom Terri met his dad Steve when she too was visiting the zoo 34 years ago.
“In both instances, there were American tourists that were coming over and visiting the zoo. So I’m waiting. I’m waiting for that American tourist to come into the zoo and for it all to happen!”
He says the both his parents and his sister’s happy marriages inspire him, and give him hope that he’ll find something similar one day
“I look at the couple goals in my life,” he says. “I look at when my brother-in-law Chandler and my sister Bindi met, it was just meant to be. And when my mom and dad met, it was this crazy serendipitous, amazing moment that just was a fluke.”
In the meantime, Irwin is doing his best to follow in his dad’s footsteps when it comes to spreading the word about animal conservation — and he hopes his Bonds underwear ad helps get the word out!
“We are all trying to continue an important legacy that my dad started,” he says of his work at the wildlife sanctuary. “And for me, I’ve gotten to find my own individual ways of doing that, and sometimes that comes in the form of modeling Bonds.”
He adds, “It seems so out of the ordinary for what I would do. But I get to be with Aussie Wildlife, I get to approach a new audience, a new platform, and get my message out there to more people.”
He also hopes to inspire people to treat themselves well.
“It’s important to take care of yourself and treat your body with kindness,” he says of making his physical and mental health a priority. “But also, be happy and enjoy life.. and let’s chill out a little bit.”
He says being chill was part of the messaging behind the Bonds campaign.
“I was surrounded by the most wild, dangerous animals, but in the face of all that, totally chill. And I think that’s kind of [the message] we all need to take,” he shares with PEOPLE. “There is so much going on, particularly in the environmental space and just society in general. And I think we all need to remember, take a breath, be kind to one another, be kind to every living being around you, and let’s just move forward.”
