For the first time since their shocking deaths in December 2025, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner’s son Jake Reiner is speaking out on live TV.

Jake, 34, sat down with Los Angeles-based KABC-TV, with the interview airing on Good Morning America on Thursday, August 27, his first televised interview about the deaths of his parents.

“Nobody really understands what it’s like to go through something like that until you’re living it,” he emotionally told anchor Marc Cota-Robles. “It’s been eight months. It feels like eight years at the same time. And it also feels like eight minutes because every moment that I wake up, I’m reminded of my reality.”

Jake and his youngest sibling, sister Romy Reiner, have since put on a united front after the passing of their parents, even appearing at a Dodgers game together to throw the ceremonial first pitch earlier this month.

“[Our dad] had season tickets for the Dodgers,” Jake recalled. “And we would go anywhere from three to four games a week, and it was just the greatest time with him.”

As can be seen in the clip above, Jake was also asked about feeling like he had “lost” half his family, including his younger brother Nick. The 32-year-old was arrested on charges of first-degree murder of both his parents.

“For me, it manifests into anger,” Jake said of his parents’ murder, for which his younger brother Nick Reiner is currently in custody

While visibly uncomfortable discussing his brother, he later added of the situation: “For me, it manifests into anger. It manifests into rage, into how unfair this was, how I didn’t get a say in what happened.”

“I didn’t get to stop it from happening. I had no choice in the matter. I just have to accept the reality of it. And to me, that is just one of the most infuriating parts of all of this.”
