Rihanna is getting real about rediscovering her personal style now that she’s settling into motherhood with two toddlers.
In the March cover story for Harper’s Bazaar‘s “The Legacy” issue, the singer, 37, spoke about some of the sartorial challenges she’s faced in postpartum after welcoming her sons, RZA, 2½, and Riot, 18 months, with A$AP Rocky.
“I feel like getting dressed is a fight on its own 1740471546,” she said in the interview published on Saturday, Feb. 22. “Everything is so … logical,” she continued. “What makes sense? What’s easy? What’s fast? I try not to overthink all that stuff, but you’re leaving the house. It kind of stops you from going out.”
She also said that she contemplates how much “energy” she wants to put into dressing up and getting glam. “You go through a fog. And fashion is so much fun, and I miss the fun.”
In addition to her style changes, Rihanna has also opened up about the hair loss she struggled with after giving birth. “I didn’t expect it to happen in waves. I thought it would just happen and grow back,” the Grammy winner said while speaking with Refinery29 at a Fenty Hair event in June 2024.
She added that the side effect was “not on the pamphlet” for post-pregnancy, during which she began losing hair in patches. “At that point you’re just like alright enough is enough.”
However, she learned how to embrace the hair loss by getting “more creative and clever” with her hairstyles

Rihanna changed the trajectory of maternity style when she announced her first pregnancy in 2022, after she was spotted in New York City wearing a hot pink puffer coat unbuttoned just enough to reveal her growing bump.
In 2023, she epically revealed that she was expecting for the second time during her Super Bowl Halftime performance. The Grammy winner took everyone by surprise in a figure-hugging custom Loewe look featuring a jersey catsuit and sculpted leather corset. Later that year, in May, she had another major maternity style moment when she showed off her bump at the Met Gala in a white Valentino gown.
In December 2024, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky closed out the year with two standout red carpet moments.
First, they brought their coordinating style to the 2024 Fashion Awards in London. The Fenty Beauty founder got decked out in a Christian Lacroix FW02 blue look complete with a fur dress and massive hat à la Pamela Anderson’s iconic 1999 MTV VMAs ensemble. Meanwhile the “Fashion Killer” rapped pulled off a navy co-ord.
A day later, the couple booked it to N.Y.C. for the 38th Footwear News Achievement Awards, where the rapper was presented with the Collaboration of the Year award. Rihanna went glam with an elegant shirt-inspired gown with a popped collar and rocked an unexpected twist in baby bangs, while her longtime partner rocked a leather aviator jacket and trousers.
