Angie Katsanevas is calling Britani Batemanâs faith into question.
Part three of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 5 reunion, which aired on Feb. 5, welcomed newbie Britani to the conversation, where the women debated whether her life aligned with âtrueâ Mormon values.
After Britani preached her religious beliefs throughout the season, Heather Gay called her out for contradicting herself. âI mean, Britaniâs living a double life,â Heather, 50, said. âSheâs an active Mormon, and to be an active Mormon and not get kicked out of the church, you canât have sex, you canât drink, and youâre doing both.â
âThatâs not true, itâs up to the Bishop,â Britani, 53, responded as Lisa Barlow chimed in to point out that she is a Mormon who owns a tequila company.
Thinking back to Britani calling Angie, 51, inappropriate for bringing a bottle of wine to her âprayer night,â Heather said Britani was holding the rest of the women to a double standard.
Bronwyn Newport had similar feelings, claiming Britani doesnât exactly practice what she preaches.
âI also grew up Mormon. I was Mormon my whole life,â Bronwyn shared. âI mean, I know everybody gets to do what they want to do, but I agree with Heather. If you want to look like youâre in good standing with the church, if you want to be accepted culturally, you should not be drinking and having premarital sex.â
Under her breath, Mary Cosby, who is married to a Bishop, said that she feels Britani is âsinning.â
When host Andy Cohen asked if Angie was âbeing shadyâ by bringing Britani wine, she insisted she thought it was just a nice gesture.
âYouâre from Provo, but youâre not in the Mormons that I grew up with, Britani,â Angie said, declaring: âYouâre not a true Mormon!â
âI grew up with Mormons the way Heather was raised,â Angie added.Â
Lisa then noted that âyou shouldnât say whoâs a true Mormon and whoâs not.â
Britani declared, âI can live it any way I want,â but Angie wasnât ready to accept that response.
âI embrace my religion every day â not on Sundays â seven fâing days a week,â Angie said.
While Britani emphasized that there is no one way to practice a religion, calling Angie âcondescending,â Mary offered Angie her support.
âYou donât need to prove it to her,â Mary whispered. âSheâs sinning, who cares?â
A frustrated Bronwyn continued to press Britani about the inconsistencies involving her religion and the way she lives her life.
âI will say, there are lots of examples, Britani, of you saying something to all of us, and when we say it back to you, you donât like the way it sounds,â Bronwyn said. âYou canât say something and then not like it when someone mirrors it back to you.â
âSometimes I say things and I donât know how theyâre coming out of my mouth,â Britani explained.
But Bronwyn didnât stop there. âYou canât say, âI like to drink wine,â and then be mad someone buys you a bottle of wine,â she said.
Cohen then brought up Britaniâs end-of-season confession that she and her boyfriend, Jared Osmond â who Bravo editors noted she has since split from and gotten back together with â were having premarital sex.
âIt felt really good,â Britani said, teary-eyed. âI have to say, when I watched that, I cried and I didnât even realize how much trauma I had around the shame ⊠clearly, I have some work to do around that.â
However, because it came after the women caught Britani recording their argument on the cast trip, they were quick to question her intentions behind coming clean about her private life.
âI actually lied to everyone,â Britani admitted. âI said that just to show good faith. I was trying to say, âLook, I wasnât secretly recording you, but I did lie about this.â I mean, I blatantly, bold-faced, lied.â
