Rebecca Minkoff once passed up drugs for sex.
On the Oct. 15 episode of The Real Housewives of New York City, the famed fashion designer, 42, was filling in her fellow cast members about how she ended up in New York when she revealed an unconventional pact she made with her parents when she was just a teen.
Rebecca recalled how her plans to move to the Big Apple were almost thwarted when she and her ex broke up just days before they were supposed to move in together when she was 18. The Bravolebrity, who had been living in Florida at the time, was out of a place to live as she had promised her previous residence to her high school boyfriend Brad.
âI lost my virginity to Brad,â Rebecca shared when the Housewives sounded off about her ex. âSo we like Brad. I lost my virginity at 16, because my parents had a really great deal. They said, âIf you donât do drugs, weâll get you birth control pills.â And I was like, âSign me up!'â
Her costars reacted in shock and shared they didnât think the parenting choice was ânormal.â When Jenna Lyons asked if she would give her daughter, Bowie, 9, she replied, âIâd make that deal with her.â
In a conversation with cameras, Jenna reflected on her own relationship with her son Bennett and whether or not sheâd allow him the same opportunity as Rebeccaâs parents.
âI grew up in California, and so it was mostly about drinking and driving,â the former J. Crew director said of her own upbringing. âBut like, the idea that I would condone sex at 16? Itâs all like too much. I have a 17-year-old kid, like I canât even imagine giving him ⊠Oh, God.â
Rebecca then made another candid admission and revealed that she still had the âbedâ she had sex on for the first time.
âYou have the bed? You kept the bed?â Erin Lichy asked while Jenna clarified, âNot the mattress?â
âNo, not the mattress,â Rebecca scoffed. âThe bed frame. Itâs not sentimental, itâs right there and itâs easy. No, I wasnât like this is my virgin bed.â
