Gina Kirschenheiter is thankful that her former husband Matt Kirschenheiter is okay after he had a heart attack over the weekend.

On Monday, March 17, the Real Housewives of Orange County star, 40, shared an Instagram post of photos of her ex recovering in a hospital bed.

“Wow. We had a scary weekend! Matt (the kiddos dad) suffered a heart attack Saturday,” Gina began as the caption to her carousel, adding, “He’s only 40 years old!!”

Gina shares daughter Sienna and sons Nicholas and Luca with Matt. Her blended family also includes current boyfriend Travis Mullen’s three children (two daughters and a son) from his previous relationship.

The lead image in Gina’s Instagram post showed and Sienna smiling for a selfie as they leaned over Matt’s hospital bed.

She also thanked her children’s stepmom, Britt Kirschenheiter, for getting Matt to the hospital quickly.

“The kids were very shaken up but thankfully we can be smiling bc he will be okay! He came home today. The kids and Trav and I are so happy to have their dad back,” Gina wrote.

The reality star referred to the medical emergency as “too close of a call,” adding that Matt’s medical emergency “really puts things in perspective.”

She also noted that the incident inspired their family to embark on a lifestyle change.

“We will all be changing our lifestyle and leaning into the healthy bc being there for our kids is the only thing that matters,” Gina said.

Before concluding, Gina shared a message for those “struggling to coparent.”

“Remember you are all a family and what matters most is that you all get to be there for your kids. Tomorrow is not promised, today is a gift,” she wrote, adding a red heart emoji.

Another photo showed Britt also smiling with her blended family in the hospital room.

In addition to the Kirschenheiter family, Gina’s Bravo family also showed their support, leaving words of encouragement under her Instagram post.

“Oh no! So glad he is going to be ok,” former RHOC star Vicki Gunvalson wrote.

Gretchen Rossi added, “Omg 😱 Gina! How scary. Thank God he is ok 🙏🏻,” while Jennifer Pedranti said, “Sending you guys big hugs! So happy to hear he is ok. I can’t imagine how scary.”

Prior to Matt’s unforseen heart attack, Gina shared that she was focusing on her own health.

“January marks three years for me not drinking,” she wrote on a late December Instagram post while remaining optimistic about the new year. “People are always asking what I did to look so good. I don’t talk about it much but as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Here’s something for anyone who’s ‘sober curious.’ 2025 seems like a great time to effect positive change❤️.”

“If you’re thinking about it…do it,” she added of her sober lifestyle.
