Queen Máxima of the Netherlands loves a bold fashion moment – and her latest eye-catching accessory proved it.

The Dutch royals made a glamorous joint family appearance on 15 September at Prinsjesdag, which marked the official opening of the new parliamentary year. Accompanied by her husband, King Willem-Alexander, and their three daughters, Queen Máxima cut a stylish figure in a smart skirt and blouse with her hair swept up elegantly beneath a unique headpiece she last wore 12 years ago.

The royal’s hair was kept off her face by a futuristic-looking fascinator by Belgian milliner Fabienne Delvigne, as identified by Royal Fashion Police on Instagram. The thin, structured accessory, which Máxima debuted during a June 2014 trip to Poland, wrapped around the side of her head and extended into long, wispy pieces.

Máxima looked effortlessly elegant at Prinsjesdag in a monochromatic pairing from Belgian couture label Natan. The royal stepped out in a silky black blouse that she tucked into a high-waisted white skirt. The A-line skirt draped beautifully to the floor, with the royal’s pair of Gianvito Rossi suede heels peeking out beneath the hem as she walked.

The Queen complemented her sleek, contemporary look with black leather gloves and the most gorgeous pair of pearl drop earrings.

Queen Máxima’s three daughters – Princess Catharina-Amalia, Princess Alexia and Princess Ariane – proved they’ve inherited their mother’s penchant for fashion on Tuesday. The princesses arrived at the Royal Theatre in The Hague with the most glamorously curled hair and all wearing royal sashes.

Amalia, 22, looked lovely in an olive green gown by Rachel Gilbert, which she paired with a YSL leather pouch and brown pointed-toe heels. Her younger sister Alexia, 21, paired her floor-length teal cape dress with contrasting burgundy accessories. The young royal opted for a pair of chic gloves in the autumnal colour, as well as a suede bag and heels and a stylish fedora atop her curled hair.

Máxima and Willem-Alexander’s youngest daughter, Ariane, 19, wore a gorgeous burgundy Jan Taminiau gown, which she borrowed from her mother’s wardrobe. She paired the chic dress with matching coloured leather gloves and an elevated headband.
