Queen Mary of Denmark turned heads on the third day of her state visit to Australia when she wore a floral black dress beloved by Julia Roberts.
The 54-year-old senior royal is visiting the land down under with her husband, King Frederik X, 57, to strengthen relations between the two nations and has visited the Northern Territory and Canberra so far.
While attending a dinner with the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, and his wife, Jodie Haydon, in the capital city, the Danish queen chose a flowing black gown with stitched floral detailing.
The dress, made by Etro, featured a deep V-neck and stopped just above the Queen’s ankle. Covered in a mismatch of colours and paisley-inspired swirls, the skirt hem was rimmed with a jazzy pattern and swished around her legs.
Cinched just under her ribcage, the structured piece had a similar patterned band at the top of its skirt and along its neckline, and featured bell sleeves that ballooned around Mary’s arms.
For this occasion, she finished off the look with a pair of Gianvito Rossi black leather strappy stiletto sandals and added some extravagant, fun red chandelier earrings.
The Danish royal previously wore the dress in 2024 and 2025, choosing to wear her hair in an updo both times, whereas in 2026 she let her brunette locks hang loose around her shoulders.
Twinning with Hollywood stars
The mother-of-four’s evening dress was remarkably similar to a gown worn by Julia Roberts, 58, in her movie, Ticket to Paradise, with George Clooney.
Made by the same designer, the Pretty Woman star wore the floral black creation in the trailer for the rom-com, which also starred Emily in Paris‘s Lucas Bravo and The Last of Us actress Kaitlyn Dever. She also wore the dress on the film’s poster.
For her look, Julia styled her hair in two plaits, which she then pinned to the top of her head, forming a sort of crown and added turquoise blue drop earrings and a matching ring.
She added a pink flower to the back of her hair, which matched the floral patterns running along the same lines as the Queen’s version of the garment.
The royal tour continues
Opting for a more casual look, during the latest royal engagement in Australia, the King and Queen spent St Patrick’s Day in Melbourne at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The royal couple were visiting the Hawthorne Football Club and joined in on the fun, kicking balls around the field and shaking hands with some of the players.
For this occasion, Mary wore a white blazer over a white cotton T-shirt and a pair of light blue loose-fitting trousers. She added some trainers and sunglasses to complete her sporting ensemble.
