Queen Mary brought out the perfect springtime dress for a special day out in her native Australia – and it’s a re-wear from one of her favourite homegrown brands. The royal, who is currently with her husband King Frederik on their six-day state visit Down Under, walked around Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens in a floral dress that was just as striking as the natural botanical scenery.
Mary looked effortlessly glamorous in a pink-hued maxi dress with a matching patterned belt from Sydney-based designer Zimmerman – a brand beloved by the Danish royal. With a V-neck and long flowing bell sleeves, the royal was perfectly dressed in the label’s ‘Kaleidoscope Belted Floral Midi Dress’ for the sunny weather in Victoria. While it’s currently autumn in Australia, the maxi dress could easily be a spring or summer wear with its warm colours and gorgeous floral print.
The royal has worn the Zimmermann dress on multiple occasions over the years, including to her nephew Count Henrik’s confirmation three years ago. Mary wore the Australian-designed dress for the formal occasion in Paris in May 2023, which she paired with a pink handbag and stiletto heels.
Mary had her brunette tresses out in natural waves below her shoulders and paired the pretty ensemble with teardrop earrings in the same colour and a clutch in hand. The royal couple were out at the gardens to meet Victoria’s Premier, Jacinta Allan, for the ‘An Evening in the Garden’ reception on Wednesday.
Zimmerman is a favourite of Mary’s
Zimmermann has long been a brand Mary favours in her rotation as a sweet nod to her native country. The royal even wore another dress from the Sydney designer while out in Australia’s capital, Canberra, to meet the Governor-General of Australia, Sam Mostyn, and her husband, Simeon Beckett, at the start of her state visit over the weekend.
The Danish royal wore the ‘Everley Plunge Floral Linen Midi Dress’ while being welcomed with a traditional smoke ceremony at Government House on 15 March. The style of the dress closely resembled her floral one at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne with a V-shaped neckline and long billowing sleeves.
More of Mary’s floral looks in Australia
The royal is loving the floral prints for her Aussie trip. While in Canberra on Sunday, Mary wore a second dress which featured a colourful floral print and ruffle details on the front. Mary paired the formal look with an extravagant headpiece which featured decorate floral arrangements on one side.
Mary made it to her home state Tasmania on Thursday where she stopped to greet locals at the waterfront in Hobart. For the sunny occasion, while not flowers, the royal once again opted for a bold print with a chic below-the-knee dress adorned with a colourful paisley pattern. Mary dressed the look up with a cropped beige jacket which she had fasted at the front with an asymmetrical belt.
During their visit to Hobart, Mary and Frederik enjoyed a day on the water, where the Queen was pictured animatedly holding a lobster.
