Queen Letizia channels Disney princess at Spanish state visit honoring French president

Queen Letizia, recalling the brave Princess Elsa from Disney’s Frozen, dazzled in an ice-blue Carolina Herrera floor-length gown that exuded pure glamour and majesty.

The spectacular gown is from the designer’s new collection and features a delicate sheer yoke that wraps around the neckline and is exquisitely adorned with intricate floral motifs, as well as dramatic sleeves that give the look a commanding presence as the royal walked.

Letizia accessorized with some of the most exquisite jewels from the royal collection, including the Spanish Floral Tiara.

The remarkable piece features delicate lines and is adorned with diamonds and a unique sparkle that captures attention. 

From the 19th century, it was gifted to Queen Sofía by the Spanish government to celebrate her 1962 wedding, this jewel is one of Queen Letizia’s favorites; its three diamond flowers can be detached and worn as brooches or a necklace.

First Lady Brigitte Macron looked exquisite in a white column dress with silver sparkling panels that highlighted her figure.

Felipe and Emmanuel’s relationship has grown deeper over the years, with the two nations waiting eight years to host the state visit after Emmanuel was elected in 2018.

Political instability and the COVID-19 pandemic postponed several attempts, however as the President has revealed he will not stand in the 2017 election, this state visit also marks a farewell.

On September 28, 2026 it was confirmed that Felipe would honor the French leader by awarding Emmanuel the Collar of the Order of Isabella the Catholic, a highly prestigious distinction reserved for a very limited number of individuals and which symbolizes the deep bonds of friendship between the two nations.

Brigitte was decorated with the Grand Cross of the same Order for her contribution to bilateral relations.

Both Emmanuel and Brigitte wore their new insignia at the dinner.

The state banquet boasted an exceptional gastronomic experience thanks to the mastery of Joan Roca, who reportedly designed the menu specifically for President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte.

Along with his brothers Josep and Jordi, Catalan chef Joan leads the renowned El Celler de Can Roca restaurant in Girona, which has been awarded three Michelin stars and twice recognized (2013 and 2015) as the best in the world by The  World’s 50 Best Restaurants list.

During Emmanuel’s speech, which he gave in French and Spanish, he paid special tribute to the future of the Spanish Crown, referencing Felipe’s daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, who were not in attendance.

“I toast His Majesty the King, Her Majesty the Queen, and Their Royal Highnesses, the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofía,” Emmanuel concluded; Leonor, known as the Princess of Asturias, recently began her university studies at the Carlos III University of Madrid, and will take the throne following her father.
