Ashton Kutcher is praising his ex-wife, Demi Moore, 15 years after they split.
The actor was promoting his new FX series, âThe Beauty,â when he was asked about the project getting comparisons to Mooreâs critically acclaimed 2024 film, âThe Substance.â
âI mean, one, Demiâs performance in âThe Substance,â obviously she got extraordinary accolades, Iâm so proud of her, she killed it,â Kutcher told Entertainment Tonight.
âI think the bigger context though is weâre in a society where cosmetic enhancements is becoming increasingly dominant, accepted,â he continued. âItâs a weird thing, like over the past two decades, you just kind of watch the rise of that taking place.â
In Ryan Murphyâs âThe Beauty,â Kutcher plays the creator of a drug that makes people stunningly beautiful but has lethal side effects.
In âThe Substance,â Moore plays an aging celebrity who uses a black market drug that creates a younger version of herself with unexpected side effects.
Moore won a Golden Globe, a Critics Choice Award and a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award for her performance in the film.
Kutcher, 47, and Moore, 63, started dating in 2003 and tied the knot in September 2005. They split in 2011 after six years of marriage and their divorce was finalized in 2013.
A decade later, Kutcher admitted he was âfâking pissedâ at Moore over her 2019 memoir, âInside Out.â In her book, Moore said that she regretted the two threesomes she and the actor had, and also accused him of influencing her to break her sobriety of nearly 20 years.
âIâd finally gotten to a place where the press had really laid off me and [my wife] Mila [Kunis] and my life and my family,â Kutcher told Esquire.
âAnd then the next day, [the paparazzi] are at my kidsâ school,â he continued, referring to daughter Wyatt, now 11, and son Dimitri, now 9.
Kutcher and Mooreâs romance garnered plenty of attention due to their 15-year age gap. The actor also became a stepdad to Mooreâs three children with her ex-husband Bruce Willis: Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31.
In 2023, Tallulah candidly shared that she had a tough time when her mother started dating the âThat â70s Showâ alum.
âIt was, like, 2003, [and] my mom had just started dating Ashton,â she recalled during her stint on the reality competition series âStars on Mars.â
âIt was that moment, a lot going on, and I really went inside of myself,â she continued. âThat did send me into, like, a total dumpster fire. It was really hard, and Iâm still unpacking.â
