Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank recently welcomed their second child in Portugal, marking an unconventional royal arrival.The birth of their baby girl near Lisbon earlier this week marked a landmark event for the royal family, as she is one of the few in line for the throne to be born abroad.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson‘s daughter moved to the Portuguese Algarve in 2022 after her husband landed a new job there, bringing their two sons, August, five, and Ernest, three.
The family, who split their time between their £3.6 million European villa and their home in London, appear to have made Portugal their primary residence after several happy years in the sought-after holiday destination. According to a new report in the Daily Mail, Eugenie and Jack are well settled into their new life and are popular among locals.

They are regular visitors to O Fadista restaurant, located near their home, and have been visited by Eugenie’s mother, Sarah, on several occasions, the outlet reported.
Meanwhile, workers at the establishment, which serves seafood rice as a speciality, said they had not yet seen Andrew. The former Duchess of York is thought to be with the couple at their home in Comporta to “help with the new little one.”
President of the local tourist board, Jose Santos, told the publication the royals served as a “fantastic advert” for the area, which, until now, had been a “closely-guarded secret”.
Fortunately for both, locals are “very discreet” and don’t often talk about them. He said the milestone European birth was “great”, adding that the baby could embrace being Portuguese as much as she wishes.
Eugenie, 36, and Jack, 40, enjoy “very exclusive” living with “tight” security where only neighbours and those who arrive by strict invitation can visit.

A local councillor said the “friendly” couple will always say hello and even practice speaking a bit of Portuguese. Few of the locals recognise the couple as celebrities, and those who do leave them in peace, they added.
The couple enjoy a sedentary life, driving around in their Range Rover, visiting local restaurants, and going on walks, the outlet reported.Since their daughter, who has not yet been named, was born in Portugal, she is Portuguese by birth, news which has “delighted” those who know them nearby.

Eugenie has, on many occasions, spoken fondly about the couple’s new life in the European beach town. Speaking on an episode of Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware, she revealed the real reason the couple had wanted to escape busy London life.”

And things seem to be going well for the family, with Eugenie previously telling HELLO! that her children were enjoying the local natural beauty. “They love swimming. The sea in Portugal is a little bit rougher. So we’ve got our feet in, but Augie is a fish. He literally loves it, and we have whales and dolphins all across the walls.”
Eugenie and Jack are not the first to lay roots near the Portugal coast. The Princess’s cousin, Prince Harry, with whom she is thought to share a close bond, also owns a home in the country and was there visiting with his wife, Meghan Markle, last month. Both families, who live within a 90-minute drive south of Lisbon, have several celebrity neighbours, including George and Amal Clooney.
