On Sunday evening, Princess Caroline of Hanover attended the Ball of the Sovereign Order of Malta at the Cercle de l’Union Interalliée in Paris.
The location was poignant as it’s the first time the Gala has been held in Paris since 1967. To mark this landmark occasion, the 69-year-old royal decided to rewear a glorious dress by Jenny Packham.
Caroline’s midnight blue dress is known as the ‘Viola’ and is an eye-catching masterpiece. An enchanting design, it boasts a floor-length hem, a spectacular display of beads and sequins, and delicate keyhole detail.
It has slightly flared sleeves and makes an elegant statement. In keeping with the royal blue ‘theme’, the royal opted to wear opulent Cartier sapphire earrings, which previously belonged to her grandmother, Princess Charlotte, Duchess of Valentinois.
This wasn’t the first time that the royal has worn this particular dress. In 2024, the Princess attended the Gala evening at the Grimaldi Forum during the Monaco National Day, wearing the same glittering ensemble.
Despite not being part of the brand’s current collection, the dress is still available in limited sizes at Net-A-Porter if you have a formal function to attend and want something beautiful to wear.
This Needle & Thread ‘Heart Lattice’ gown also features a myriad of shining sequins, in the same enchanting blue, which would be a wonderful design to wear to a party or black tie event.
Princess Kate’s love affair with Jenny Packham dresses
The Princess of Wales has been a loyal admirer of Jenny Packham since her early days as a senior royal. From tours around the world to glitzy red carpet affairs, the mother of three always finds her sartorial stride in pieces from the British designer’s collection.
Although she’s worn a plethora of the designer’s gowns, her most iconic moment has to be in 2021, when the royal made a serious fashion statement in her gold sequin gown by Jenny Packham at the James Bond premiere for No Time To Die.
Kate gave every Bond Girl in history a run for their money in her designer gown, which had a twisted waist, was made up of a mass of gold sequins and also featured a rather abstract addition – an incredible, bejewelled cape.
The design was a rather daring choice for the royal; it was a style that she had never worn before. Kate is a classic dresser and enjoys well-cut clothes in chic colours, but this dress had everything mesmerising in one swipe – sequins, shoulder pads and the shimmering gold shade.
