The royals of the world gathered in Oslo on 9 September to pay their respects to the late King Harald of Norway – including members of the Dutch royal family.

Princess Catharina-Amalia Netherlands walked alongside her parents, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, in the poignant procession, blending in with the mourners in head-to-toe black.

The 22-year-old royal dressed for the sombre occasion in a £785 midi dress by one of the Princess of Wales’ favourite designers, London-based label Roland Mouret. Amalia wore the luxury brand’s ‘Short Sleeve Twist Drape Midi Dress’, as identified by Royal Fashion Police on Instagram, which featured an asymmetrical neckline and a defined waist with a matching black belt.

The short-sleeved dress flared out from the hips in a trumpet silhouette and fell to above the ankles, showing off a pair of designer heels with a special family connection.

From mother to daughter

Amalia complemented her formal attire on Wednesday with several items borrowed from her mother’s wardrobe – including a pair of Gianvito Rossi heels Queen Máxima has worn previously.

The Princess stepped out in the ‘Gianvito 105 black leather pumps, which she wore over matching black opaque tights. The shoes have been a go-to of Queen Máxima’s for years, dating back to 2021 and most recently being worn by the royal in March during a visit to Philadelphia, as per royal fashion blogger UFO No More.

The shoes have also made a fan out of Queen Mary of Denmark, who has worn the exact style since 2018 for a handful of public engagements.

Royal Fashion Police reports Amalia finished off her look with two more of Queen Máxima’s accessories: the Carlend Copenhagen ‘Aicha’ clutch and a veiled hat by Philip Treacy.

Queen Máxima also sported black for the sombre gathering, looking elegant in an Alessandra Rich midi dress which buttoned up the front and was belted at the waist for a cinched silhouette.

Like her daughter, she wore a pair of black Gianvito Rossi heels, but in suede. The royal also reportedly wore a gold chain-link necklace that was gifted to her by Norway’s Queen Mette-Marit and engraved with the words: “With Love, Mette”.
