Prince William and Kate Middleton hint at ‘substantive’ change as they hire for new role

The Prince and Princess of Wales are hiring for a very exciting new role – and it could hint at some upcoming projects. 

Kate, 44, is looking for a project manager for her Royal Centre for Early Childhood, which is part of the Royal Foundation she shares with Prince William. 

The successful candidate will work with the centre’s “international workstreams” and “global experts and businesses”, hinting that the Princess could be looking to focus on more work overseas. The role mentions “substantive” and “complex” projects in the pipeline. 

A description reads: “In this role, you will focus on the Centre’s business and international workstreams, helping to manage projects that engage a diverse range of stakeholders including corporations, employers, global experts, partners and cross-sector leaders in the early childhood sector.

“The role will include coordinating activity that strengthens the economic, social and organisational case for investing in the early years, supports international knowledge exchange and helps position early childhood as a shared priority for business, policy and society.”

The full-time role also offers hybrid working between home and the office in central London, and a reported annual salary of £45,000. 

Princess Kate’s exciting trips abroad as she returns to work

Earlier this year, Kate enjoyed a successful solo trip to Reggio Emilia in Italy with the Centre. It marked her first trip abroad since her cancer diagnosis in 2024. 

At the time, the Princess stated that her focus was “early childhood development, forming part of a high-level fact-finding mission to explore leading international approaches to supporting young children and those who care for them”.

A Kensington Palace spokesman told HELLO! she found the trip “deeply moving on both a professional and personal level.”

She has also been tipped to join Prince William at his upcoming Earthshot Prize awards in Mumbai, India, this autumn, though this is yet to be officially confirmed. 

William and Kate have not travelled abroad together for work since a trip to Jordan in 2023 for the royal wedding of Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa. 

Their last royal tour was of the Caribbean in 2022 to mark the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The Royal Foundation is William and Kate’s joint charity arm through which they conduct their major projects.

The Foundation recorded a total income of more than £19 million in 2025, with expenditure sitting at £16 million, according to its most recent report.
