Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have been given a very special opportunity by a charity.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s two children have given their names to two “magnificent” elephants in the Okavango Delta in Botswana, who have been fitted with satellite-tracking collars.
Archie, seven, chose a blue collar for his elephant, while Princess Lilibet, five, chose purple – hinting that these could be their favourite colours.
Elephants Without Borders, a conservation group in Botswana, received the money for the collars after Harry diverted funds from Princess Diana‘s memorial fund away from Sentebale and to the elephant charity instead.
Dr Mike Chase, the founder of the charity, told The Telegraph: “The Duke has a very strong passion for the Okavango Delta, Botswana, its people, and its wildlife.”
“I am deeply grateful that he is supporting us through the Diana Memorial Fund, it means a great deal to us and to the elephants we are working so hard to protect.”
“We wanted to pass on that legacy to the kids, in the hope that his passion for Okavango and Botswana would rub off on them, and to allow them to monitor the elephants in real time across the world.”
Prince Harry diverts Sentebale funding after fallout
The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund was founded shortly after the late royal died in 1997 and was closed in 2012.
It no longer raises money but still receives some donations, which are legally controlled by the Royal Foundation.
When Prince Harry stepped down from royal duties in 2020, it was agreed that he would divide any future proceeds with Prince William’s charities.
© Getty Images for SentebaleHis share previously went to Sentebale, which was founded to fight HIV/AIDS in Lesotho and Botswana, but in 2025, his £5,432 share went for the first time to Elephants Without Borders.
A statement said: “In accordance with a request by The Duke of Sussex, half of the net proceeds received by the Diana Fund since 18 December 2019 are being donated to a charity of The Duke’s choosing. In 2025, all funds will be donated to Elephants Without Borders.”
Harry, 41, was sued for defamation by Sentebale back in April after resigning from the charity he co-founded with Lesotho’s Prince Seeiso following an “unthinkable” controversy within the organisation.

The elephants will give Archie and Lilibet, who live in the US, something else in common with their cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

The royal youngsters decided to call the joey Cwtch, which is Welsh for cuddle – a move that will make their father, Prince William, who is learning Welsh, very proud.
Conservationist Robert Irwin announced the news on social media, writing: “Introducing Cwtch, the newest member of the Australia Zoo family, a gorgeous eastern grey kangaroo joey.”
He said in video footage that “my friends, the Wales family, helped us to name our beautiful new joey”.
