President Joe Biden‘s prostate cancer has spread and metastasized into his bones, claims Joe’s son Hunter.
Hunter shared that the disease was now “very painful” for the 83-year-old, who revealed his initial diagnosis in May 2025, four months after leaving office. “The cancer has spread, metastasized into his bones and further,” said Hunter in August 2026 in an interview with BBC Newsnight. “It’s very painful and it’s very debilitating in many respects.”
Hunter, 56, added: “It’s really sad to watch,” before sharing that “the only thing that I’d say about my dad, about his health right now, is I wish he would complain more, because it’s not good.”
“He’s still doing his thing. He so believes in this country,” he said.
Joe, at the time of his presidency between 2021 and 2025, was the oldest man to serve as US President, leaving office at the age of 81.
His age was one of the looming criticisms he faced by opponents as well as members of his own party, however, the record will be surpassed by President Donald Trump who was 78 years and 220 days on the day of his 2025 inauguration, and who will leave office at the age of 82 in 2029.

“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms,” a statement from his office read.
“On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone. While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management.”

Gerald Denis, a research professor at the Shipley Prostate Cancer Research Center, part of the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, said that this type of cancer is “generally considered to be advanced and incurable”.
In 2023, the President had a skin lesion removed from his chest, which was later confirmed to be basal cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer. Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the White House physician at the time, shared further details in an official statement.
“As expected, the biopsy confirmed that the small lesion was basal cell carcinoma. All cancerous tissue was successfully removed… No further treatment is required,” it read.
The Bidens have been actively working in the cancer research field, launching the Biden Cancer Moonshot in 2022 with the aim to not “prevent more than 4 million cancer deaths by 2047 and to improve the experience of people who are touched by cancer.”
