Hailee Steinfeld is sharing details of her adorable baby shower, organized by her mom, Cheri.
“On a sunny Saturday in LA, my mom and about 30 women I love so much gathered in my most comfortable place — my backyard — for a baby shower,” the Oscar nominee, 29, wrote via her Beau Society newsletter on Tuesday, March 17. “My mom planned the entire gorgeous thing.”
For the gathering, Steinfeld’s mom adorned the backyard with plenty of gingham, from the tablecloths to decorative ribbons, and there was even a knitting station for her guests to make a special gift for her little one.
There was “no baby shower theme, per se, but a subtle nursery rhyme thread was woven throughout the decor,” the Sinners actress wrote, noting that there were nursery books scattered “everywhere.”
“Everyone brought a book, so this baby is building quite the little library,” she wrote.
Guests were also invited to knit their own square for a blanket for the star’s first baby with husband Josh Allen.
“It’s a very full-circle moment for me because my mom took up knitting when I made my first movie,” Steinfeld explained. “She was sitting in a trailer all day and needed something to do. It was Sudoku or knitting, and she chose the latter. Our family would joke that she was going to knit the red carpet because she didn’t stop.”
“She taught me how to knit way back when,” the Edge of Seventeen star continued. “I can’t really cast on or off, but I was able to knit a square to put on this baby’s blanket. I feel like I reopened a fun hobby.”
Steinfeld first announced her pregnancy in her Beau Society newsletter in December 2025. She and Buffalo Bills quarterback Allen, also 29, were first linked in May 2023 and announced their engagement in November 2024. The couple tied the knot last May.
Last month, the Hawkeye actress opened up about her pregnancy journey in her newsletter, writing how “the reality that our little family is about to grow” has “really started to settle in.”
“The most profound and grounding part of getting ready for this baby has been the introspective side of it [and] the quiet conversations I’m having with myself almost every day,” she shared with her fans. “Sometimes I find myself asking big, lofty questions (‘What am I going to be like as a mom?’) or having vivid daydreams of what our life is about to look like when the three of us are cuddled up in the nursery together.”
She added, “While tuning in, I’ve experienced this surreal, full-body awareness that our world is about to expand in beautiful ways. We’re getting ready to meet someone we already love so much. I’ve racked my brain for words to describe that feeling, and I don’t have them yet. Maybe that’s the point. For now, I’m blessed to be settling into the feeling.”
