Penn Badgley is giving Nobody Wants This the Joe Goldberg treatment.

More than 12 years after Gossip Girl came to end in 2012, the actor, 38, returned the favor to the show’s iconic narrator, Kristen Bell, by doing a voiceover for Nobody Wants This’ first kiss scene in his You character’s sinister voice.

In a clip shared on Netflix’s Instagram account, Badgley begins by giving an ominous spin to the iconic phrase, “Hello, Upper East Siders. You know you love me,” in Joe’s signature voice before explaining Bell’s connection to his Gossip Girl character, Dan Humphrey.

“In the finale of Gossip Girl, it was revealed that the very lovely Kristen Bell was lending her voice to my character, Dan Humphrey, who is the real Gossip Girl. Sorry, spoiler alert,” he said of the series, which ran for six seasons from 2007 to 2012.

“I thought I would repay the favor,” he added. “I’m going to put a little narrative spin on Kristen’s show, Nobody Wants This.”

As the scene from Nobody Wants This when Bell’s character Joanne and Adam Brody’s Noah get ice cream together — and later share a first passionate kiss — is shown, Badgley uses Joe’s creepy voice to narrate, saying, “You can’t be serious eating ice cream together.”

As Noah admits that his ex Rebecca looks better without makeup, the inner monologue continues. He quips, “Was that supposed to make me feel better?”

“I don’t think this situation calls for the bigger person but I guess I’ll oblige,” he says. “I know the friend zone is usually a cold, dark place suitable for frozen delicacies to bury your feelings in by the shoveful, but this is torture.”

“It’s tragic, I know, but how can I let you go if you might feel the same?” he ponders as the pair share a lingering embrace before hilariously adding, “And we’re smelling him, quick, cover!”

When Noah takes Joanne’s ice cream before he leans in for a kiss, Badgley’s voiceover continues and he explains, “Of all the ways to make a woman’s knees weak, I would not have expected handling ice cream to be one of them but seeing you take charge, seeing your eyes piercing into me, makes me certain this undeniable connection can’t be locked away.”

”Makes me certain that what I want isn’t just friends” he narrates before adding, “What I want
 is Adam Brody.”

The clip concludes with Badgley looking at the camera with a smile and saying, “You never thought I’d do it, did ya?”

Fans can hear more of Joe’s spin-chilling voiceover when the fifth and final season of You premieres next month.

“In the epic fifth and final season, Joe Goldberg returns to New York to enjoy his happily ever after
until his perfect life is threatened by the ghosts of his past and his own dark desires,” according to an official synopsis.

Badgley previously opened to PEOPLE about what he hopes is in store as the story comes to an end.

“I feel like it’s building towards a greater resolution,” he said in March 2023. “That’s what I want for Joe
because now, the circumstances are actually different.”

Added Badgley of his serial-killer character, “He has a level of power and wealth that he’s never had.”
