Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem made an ultra-rare couple’s appearance at the Venice Film Festival on Monday, and looked so loved-up as they walked the streets of the Italian city hand-in-hand.

Penélope was glowing in a black midi wrap dress with a plunging neckline, which she paired with black slingback heels, a Chanel flap bag, black earrings and black sunglasses.

The actress wore her brunette locks in a chic bob that fell to her shoulders, and completed the look with a nude pink lip.

Javier looked laid-back in blue pants, a light blue button-up shirt and white sneakers, and he accessorized with black sunglasses. The couple are in Venice to promote their new film, Bunker, in which they star as a husband-and-wife duo.

Penélope and Javier first met on the set of Jamón Jamón in 1992 and began dating after co-starring in 2008’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona

They tied the knot in 2010, and welcomed their kids Leo and Luna in 2011 and 2013, respectively. The mother of two previously opened up about working with Javier and the desire to protect their relationship from the stress of on-set collaboration.

“Obviously we can’t choose parts just for logistical reasons, like ‘Oh, let’s work together because it’s easier.’ No. In fact, it’s not something we want to do that often, partly out of desire to protect what we have,” she told Marie Claire.

“On the one hand, it’s easier because you know that person, he knows you, and the way you work is very similar,” she continued. “On the other hand, the idea of it happening every year is very scary. I think it’s better for it to just be once in a while, even though they’ve been very good experiences.”

Javier shared with Variety that the couple tried not to bring their work life home with them. “At home, we don’t talk much about work,” he said. “We don’t have posters or photos or anything that reminds us of what we do for a living.”

“We don’t waste too much time talking about work, though we love what we do. We try to compartmentalize life and fiction.” The No Country for Old Men actor added that he was incredibly blessed to have a wife like Penélope.

“It’s important that you respect and support your partner, but also that you admire that person for what she is, for what she does,” he explained. “Penélope is an amazing, beautiful, good human being – the way she relates to her family, to her friends, to our kids, to me, to herself. It’s been a lot of years, and I haven’t seen a hint of malice in her.”

“On top of that, she’s amazingly [expletive] beautiful!” Javier said. “When I see her being photographed on some magazines, I go, ‘Is that my wife? Jesus, is it? It must be!'”
