Parker Posey is reminiscing on 25 years since her role in the 2000 film Best in Show, an off-the-wall spoof on dog shows by filmmaker Christopher Guest.
In an appearance on the Today Show on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, Posey said one of her memories of making the film came courtesy of a canine co-star: the poodle who starred alongside Jennifer Coolidge and Jane Lynch.
âI remember the poodle that Jennifer Coolidge and Jane Lynch had was fired,â Posey, 56, said on Today. âYeah, she was behaving badly.â
Posey continued, âAnd somewhere I have some tape, because I filmed the poodle auditions at the Sutton Place hotel in Toronto, that stands out.â
In the film, Lynch played the poodleâs trainer, while Coolidge played the poodleâs owner, a spacey woman married to a wealthy man who ultimately falls for Lynchâs character instead.
Posey, meanwhile, played the role of a young urban professional who, along with her equally neurotic husband, owns a Weimaraner.
Speaking on Today, Posey added that many of her memories from filming Best in Show revolve around âjust laughing at everyone else as theyâre working,â noting that the mockumentary style of Guestâs films meant that many of the most iconic lines were improvised by the actors themselves.
âWeâd huddle and watch the monitors,â she continued. âYou know, itâs improvised, so what youâre bringing happens live. And it takes like, just a few minutes to shoot. So it was a complete joy to be a part of those movies.â
