Padma Lakshmi Attempts to Police Her Teen Daughter Krishna’s Low-Slung Jeans — and It Doesn’t Go Well

Padma Lakshmi just gave a peek inside some of the fashion wars happening inside her house.

The author and TV host, 54, has reached the point where her 14-year-old daughter, Krishna, is stealing clothes out of her closet — but she’s wearing them a little differently than mom would like.

In a video that Lakshmi posted to social media on Dec. 14, the former Top Chef host can be seen in her kitchen with Krishna, who tells her that her jeans and top are both from her closet.

“Wearing all my clothes today,” Lakshmi says in the video.

She then realizes she doesn’t like how Krishna is wearing the wide-leg jeans extremely low-rise and the cropped shirt above her belly button — so she decides she’s going to make some tweaks to the look.

Needless to say, Krishna is as horrified as you’d expect a 14-year-old to be of their mom.

As Lakshmi starts digging in the kitchen’s junk drawer, Krishna tells her she’s not “about to rubberband” her jeans or “Ziploc bag” them. Lakshmi assures her that she’s not going to use either of those things. Instead, she pulls out a clip, which Krishna worries will be a “chip clip.”

After Lakshmi clips Krishna’s pants a little higher on her waist, she tells her, “That’s still very attractive.” Krishna immediately rips the clip off and tells her, “No!” and pulls the pants down lower on her waist.

The teen then poses for the camera with her hip jutted out to the side to show off her low-waist jeans as Lakshmi sighs in defeat.

Lakshmi, who shares Krishna with Adam Dell, shared a rare photo on Instagram over the summer of the three of them together in honor of Krishna’s middle school graduation.

“I can’t believe my baby girl is off to high school after the Summer,” Lakshmi wrote in the caption. “I want to thank all of the teachers, educators, counselors, security and staff at the United Nations School for taking care of Krishna all these years.”

She continued, “I’m so proud of Krishna and all she has achieved in her young, happy life. Special thanks to the theater department at UNIS and all the wonderful members of the parents association. I’ll miss you guys at the snack bar! As Littlehands would say… gurl, bye!”
