More than a million Igloo Coolers have been recalled due to finger amputation concerns and other safety issues.
On Thursday, Feb. 13, the Texas-based company confirmed on Instagram that it would be pullingIgloo 90 Qt Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers manufactured before January 2024 “in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).”
“The tow handle of the recalled 90QT Flip & Tow Rolling Cooler can pinch consumers’ fingertips against the cooler, posing fingertip amputation and crushing hazards,” the post reads, urging customers to stop using the cooler if theirs is listed in the CPSC recall notice.
Igloo Coolers instructed followers to look for the date code under the cooler alongside an image showing customers how they can check whether theirs is in the recalled manufacturing window.
The CPSC confirmed on its website that around 1 million of the products had been recalled in the U.S. 47,000 units in Canada and 23,000 units in Mexico were recalled, too. It added that the firm had “received 12 reports of fingertip injuries, including fingertip amputations, bone fractures and lacerations.”
Consumers with the affected products should stop using the cooler and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle, the CPSC advised.
The recall includes more than 60 different models, according to the BBC, and came in a variety of colors. For more information on the product recall visit the CPSC website.

Costco, Target, Dick’s and other stores had been selling the coolers between January 2019 and January 2025 for $80 to $140, per CPSC. Customers were also able to purchase the products online on the Amazon and Igloo Coolers websites, as well as other sites.
Igloo Coolers didn’t immediately respond when contacted by PEOPLE for additional information.
