It’s a real Cinderella story for Anora.
The movie—about a sex worker marrying a Russian oligarch—was named Best Picture at the 2025 Oscars on March 2, coming out on top against fellow nominees The Brutalist, A Complete Unknown, Conclave, Dune: Part Two, Emilia Pérez, I’m Still Here, The Substance, Nickel Boys and Wicked. Accepting the award at the ceremony—hosted by Conan O’Brien in Los Angeles—were producers Alex Coco and Samantha Quan, as well as Sean Baker, who wrote, directed and produced the film starring Mikey Madison.
Baker also won the trophies for Best Directing, Best Original Screenplay and Best Film Editing at the 2025 Oscars, tying the 1954 record held by Walt Disney for a person earning four Oscars in a single night. They are the only two filmmakers to have achieved the honor in the 97-year history of the Academy Awards.
However, Baker, 54, went a step further and broke a major record by becoming the only person to have ever won four awards on the same night for the same film. (Disney’s milestone over 70 years ago was for four different movies: The Living Desert, The Alaskan Eskimo, Bear Country and Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom.)
