Only Fools and Horses star Gwyneth Strong is planning to reunite with her former co-star Tessa Peake-Jones in a new TV series.
The 66-year-old actress, who’s best known for starring as Cassandra Trotter in the BBC’s hit sitcom series, said that she is in the midst of writing a television proposal for her and Tessa, who played Raquel in the popular 80s comedy.
In a new interview with The Telegraph Gwyneth said: “My Only Fools and Horses co-star Tessa Peake-Jones and I are great friends. We’re really close.
“At the moment, I’m writing a television proposal for her and me, so I’ll wake up refreshed from my nap and work on that,” revealed the EastEnders star. “I can’t say much about it yet, but the show has elements of experiences Tessa and I have had throughout our very long friendship.”
Gwyneth also revealed that Tessa comes to stay with her at her home in East Sussex “three or four times a year” when she “wants a bit of the beach life”. “She calls my guest bedroom the ‘Tessa Peake-Jones suite’; we can’t tell her that other people stay there too,” she added.

Gwyneth’s life after Only Fools and Horses
Gwyneth, who was a regular on Only Fools and Horses between 1989 and 2003, married fellow actor, Jesse Birdsall, in 2000. Jesse is best known for his roles in Eldorado, Bugs, Hollyoaks and Footballers’ Wives.
The pair first met on the set of Stephen Frears’ 1979 film Bloody Kids, but got together years later after meeting again.
The couple share two children, a son called Oscar, who was born in 1988, and a daughter called Lottie, who arrived in 1991. Gwyneth and Jesse also have three grandchildren, eight-year-old twins and a grandson who is 18 months old.
According to Gwyneth, there’s no chance of Oscar and Lottie following in their parents’ footsteps.
“We’ve done a really good job and neither of them are remotely interested in acting or having anything to do with our business at all,” she told the BBC. “We did it! They’re going to be sensible and have jobs like normal people!”
“I think the truth is that two actors in one family is enough! I think they’ve seen the reality of it which is that it’s not glamorous and it’s an insecure profession” she continued.
Gwyneth’s charity work
Alongside her acting career, Gwyneth works with the children’s charities NSPCC and Childline. The actress said training and working in the counselling room has “changed my life”.
“I first started working with them because I wanted to do something that was genuinely about volunteering, where people couldn’t see who I was, as my profile was incredibly high at that time,” she told The Telegraph.
Gwyneth’s acting career
Since Only Fools and Horses came to an end in 2003, Gwyneth has appeared in a number of British TV staples, including Doctors, EastEnders, Midsomer Murders, Silent Witness and, more recently, the BBC One medical drama Casualty, in which she plays Inspector Ceri Mayland.
She’s also held several theatre roles, including in A Round-Heeled Woman at the Aldwych Theatre in London’s West End and in a touring production of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap.
