Pro snowboarder Shaun White pulled off a daredevil stunt that saw him soar right over the head of comedian Shane Gillis.
In social media fan footage shared on Sunday, January 25, White, 39, was seen snowboarding along snow-dusted grounds in New York Cityâs Central Park before launching into the air and above a seated Gillis, 38.
âOnly in NYC,â a caption on the wild Instagram video read. After White, a three-time Olympic gold medallist, nailed his stunt, the video showed White shake hands with Gillis as the visibly amused comedian held a can of beer in his hand.
Additional footage showed White performing a somersault, as crowds who had gathered to see the makeshift snow field cheered him on.
Gillis shared a photo from the day via his Instagram grid on Sunday, capturing a further moment where White flew over him and Gillisâ Tires costar Chris OâConnor as the funny men sat huddled, smiling.
White and OâConnor shared a joint Instagram video that captured the second sensational moment.
The video comes as the countdown to the 2026 Winter Olympics, continues. White, who retired from professional snowboarding in 2022, will serve as a broadcaster for NBC Sports. (The global sporting event starts on Friday, February 6 and runs until Sunday, February 22.)
White has attracted headlines for more than his sporting achievements of late, with the athlete and Nina Dobrev breaking off their engagement in September 2025. The pair had been a couple for five years and engaged since October 2024.
An insider exclusively told Us Weekly at the time of their split that Dobrev, 37, and White ended their engagement after growing apart. âThere was no drama here. No cheating was involved,â the source told Us. âThey were loyal to each other their entire relationship. At the end of the day, theyâre human beings, just like everyone else. They genuinely just grew apart and realized they would be better off just as friends and not husband and wife.â
According to a second source, the former couple were in the process of planning their nuptials when they decided to call their engagement off. âThey had finally started planning the wedding and things were in motion,â the second insider expanded, adding that Dobrev leaned on her friends at the time. âItâs still very fresh, but sheâs been supported by her closest girlfriends who have been checking in on her.â
While White is seemingly single, not publicly confirming any relationships since his breakup from Dobrev, the Vampire Diaries alum is also single despite rumors of a romance with Zac Efron that circulated after the pair vacationed together following Dobrev and Whiteâs split.
A source exclusively confirmed to Us at the time, âNina and Zac are not dating and have been good friends for over a decade. Their friends always joke that they should date, but that is not what is going on. They have been there for each other through many phases of life and have always had each otherâs back.â
