Nikki Glaser is counting her lucky stars after making her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live.
“Best week of my liiiiiiife,” Glaser, 41, wrote via Instagram on Monday, November 10. “Thank you so much to Lorne, the cast, writers, and all the crew who made this week genuinely FUN and treated me like one of you. I knew this week would be difficult, but I didn’t realize just how compassionate, lighthearted, and encouraging everyone would be every step of the way. I was surrounded by the most exceptional talent in the business and I learned so damn much from you all. It was an honor to watch you work! I have so much Pinwheel for you all!”
Alongside the caption, Glaser shared a series of behind-the-scenes photos from her time on the NBC variety show, including an image of her and musical guest Sombr. In one pic, Glaser is studying her monologue cue cards as she prepares to hit the stage.
Glaser also shared a signed message, which read, “I am so honored to have been a part of my favorite show. Everyone here is so damn talented and kind. Thank you!”
“And thank you to my family/team for making this week as seamless as possible and for all your love and support! And shout out to the phenom @sombr, who absolutely crushed and provided the perfect soundtrack to this week,” she concluded, before quoting a lyric from Sombr’s song, “‘In a room full of people, I look for you!’”
The comedian hosted the Saturday, November 8, episode of SNL, where she made headlines for her wide-ranging and at times controversial monologue.
“I think I’m just paranoid and I think I’m just obsessed with slavery recently because every time you go … to a public women’s restroom and you sit in the stall, there’s always a poster on the back of the stall that’s asking you if you’re being trafficked,” Glaser said at the time. “They’re in every stall. They’re in every world language. The English is really tiny and it’s like, ‘You wish.’”
She added, “Men’s restrooms do not have these signs. I don’t know what signs you have? You have signs that are like, ‘Want a slave? Text Traffic to 69-69.’ It’s really a big fear of being trafficked, mostly for Gen Z girls.”
Glaser also noted that many of her “Get Z friends that [she] bought” also fear being trafficked.
“They’re terrified. I don’t relate. I’m 41. That was not a fear of mine ever in my 20s. In my 20s, I just feared good old-fashioned rape,” she said. “I didn’t think it would be a career. We didn’t think it was anything more than a ‘temp job’ on a frat house futon. I was like, ‘What if we get trafficked?’ And they were like, ‘You’re good.’ They’re like, ‘We’re safer when you’re with us because they think you’re our madam.’”
The monologue, where Glaser also made a joke about child abuse, sparked criticism from some SNL viewers.
“OK Nikki Glaser lost me cause why are we talking about molestation and pedophilia!???” one X user wrote, while another added, “Nikki Glaser [is] really giving me the ick on SNL tonight.”
One day after the episode aired, Glaser reflected on the unforgettable experience without addressing the online backlash.
“Post to come when I fully wake up, but oh my god,” Glaser, 41, wrote via her Instagram Stories on Sunday, November 9. “I can’t believe how amazing this cast and crew was. As a fan of the show, I just have to tell all the other fans that everyone at SNL is just as talented, elite, cool and kind as you’d hope they’d be. Literally everyone.”
She continued, “It was a DREAM. I’ll never get over it.”
