Nicole Kidman is giving insight into her late motherâs influence over her daughter Sunday Roseâs budding modeling career.
The Practical Magic 2 actressâ mother Janelle Ann Kidman died in September 2024 at the age of 84, just weeks before Sunday made her modeling debut for a Miu Miu runway show.
And though the late nursing instructor missed her granddaughterâs first catwalk, she still had a huge role in her getting to model in the first place.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight about letting Sunday pursue a modeling career as a teenager, Nicole reasoned: âAs a mother Iâm like, okay, my mother let me do my passion that I wanted when I was 14, when I started [acting].â
âActually, before my Mumma passed, she was there and I said, âOh should I let her [start modeling]? She wants to modelâŠâ And my mom said, âWell you did it,â and I went, âOkay,'â she then revealed.
âSo that was sort of my Mummaâs parting gift to Sunny,â she noted, adding: âShe kind of encouraged me to let her be able to do [modeling] and follow her bliss and follow her passion and what she wanted.â
âThatâs exactly what she said, she said, âYou kind of have to let her, because I let you,'â the doting mom further shared.
In addition to Sunday, who celebrated her milestone 18th birthday in July, Nicole also shares daughter Faith Margaret, 15, with ex-husband Keith Urban, to whom she was married from 2006 to 2025.
Since her split from Keith â the couple tied the knot in 2006 and finalized their divorce in January 2026 â Nicole, who also shares daughter Bella Cruise, 32, and Connor Cruise, 30, with ex-husband Tom Cruise, has become her daughtersâ primary residential parent.
Court documents obtained by People reveal that per their parenting plan Nicole gets 306 days with her daughters while Keith will get 59 days with them.Â
Moreover, the outlet previously reported neither party will receive monthly child support, but rather they will operate according to an âotherâ agreement they worked out in which Keith has âalready prepaid all child support obligations.âÂ
Nicole signed the documents on September 6 while Keith signed them on August 29, three weeks before news of their split broke. They have also agreed to not speak badly of each other or other members of their family of the other parent, and will âencourage each child to continue to love the other parent and be comfortable in both families,â and, they were both also required to attend a parenting seminar within 60 days of the divorce filing, which was by the end of November 2025.
