Nicole Kidman hinted at her emotional struggles after she and Keith Urban ended their 19-year marriage.
The âBabygirlâ actress shared an update on her well-being during a conversation with Ariana Grande for Interview Magazine published Monday.
âHow are you?â Grande asked, to which Kidman replied, âIâm hanging in there.â
The âBig Little Liesâ alum, 58, also shared that she felt âvery safeâ and âprotectedâ while filming the sequel to her 1998 movie âPractical Magicâ this summer â shortly before her breakup came to light.
âSandy Bullock and I, and then Joey King and Maisie [Williams] â we had an incredible cast,â she shared of the new movie, adding that the project was âso fun.â
She then explained that filming movies is often not so fun because it can be emotionally draining.
âBut I have such a strong relationship with all those women, so I felt protected and loved,â she said. âIt was just very, very safe.â
Kidman went on to reflect on how special it was to be able to reunite with Sandra Bullock to reprise their roles as sister witches.
âTo come back to something so many years later and go, âWeâre still able to get this movie made at a big big studio like Warnerâs,â and that Sandy and I were able to produce it and get it made, is insane,â she said.
A source confirmed to Page Six in September that Kidman and Urban, also 58, were calling it quits after almost two decades of marriage.
âSometimes relationships just run their course,â our source said at the time, adding that Kidman âdid not want the separation and was trying to save things.â
They had reportedly been living separately since the beginning of the summer, with Kidman caring for their two kids: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
Kidman officially filed for divorce on Sept. 30 â shortly before speculation began swirling that Urban may have been romantically involved with his much-younger guitarist Maggie Baugh.
The actress is reportedly focusing her energy on making sure her daughters are okay.
âThe last thing Nicole wanted was a broken family,â a source told the Sun, adding that her âfocus [is] on creating new traditions with her daughters and keeping their home life as steady and loving as possible.â
