At one point, Tiger, 50, is made to kneel on the ground while officers check for any items on his person, and then speak with the other person involved in the crash, an overturned truck.

While the golfer looked to be in a fair state of mind, he was visibly tired and shaken, resulting in the officers asking him to take a standard sobriety test as part of standard procedure.

When asked if he had taken any alcohol, he responded that he hadn’t, although did confirm (as revealed prior) that he took “a few” prescription medications, listing off a few that had been blurred out of the footage.

Tiger then refused to take a urine test after clearing the sobriety breathalyzer test, and the officer then stated that she believed his faculties to be “impaired,” putting him in handcuffs and placing him under arrest.

Another officer inspected the athlete’s pockets after Tiger confirmed that he had nothing on him, and found two of white pills in one of his pockets (later confirmed to be hydrocodone, a potent opioid often prescribed for chronic pain). Tiger calls it “narco.”

The dad-of-two was briefly detained at the Martin County Jail, although was released a few hours later on bail. When presented in court on March 31, the athlete pleaded not guilty to the DUI charge.

Later on March 31, Tiger took to X to speak out for the first time since the arrest, sharing: “I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health.”

“This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery,” he continued. “I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”

The PGA Tour then followed up with a statement that read: “Tiger Woods is a legend of our sport whose impact extends far beyond his achievements on the course. But above all else, Tiger is a person, and our focus is on his health and well‑being. Tiger continues to have our full support as he takes this important step.”

CEO Brian Rolapp shared in his own personal statement: “Tiger Woods is one of the most influential figures the sports world has ever known. Over the last year, I have come to deeply appreciate Tiger not only for his impact on the game, but for his friendship and the perspective he has shared with me as I joined the golf industry. My thoughts are with him and his family as he takes this step, for which he has my full respect and support.”
