Apparently, Lamorne Morris has been hard to keep up with since his New Girl days!

During the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday, Feb. 23, Morrisā€™ former costars Zooey Deschanel and Max Greenfield reunited at the ceremony to present the award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series. Before presenting the prize to the Only Murders in the Building cast, Deschanel and Greenfield reminisced over their time on the beloved Fox sitcom.

ā€œMan. Zooey, I gotta say, this, this, this is wild. I canā€™t believe this. You look amazing,ā€ Greenfield, 45, said as Deschanel, also 45, replied, ā€œThank you. So do you How long has it been?ā€

ā€œGosh, I donā€™t know. Letā€™s see,ā€ Greenfield responded. ā€œWe wrapped New Girl eight years ago, and so the last time we saw each other must have been, yeah, I guess eight years.ā€

Deschanel then asked whether Greenfield had seen or spoken to Morris, 41, since the series wrapped. ā€œItā€™s been challenging since, well, you know, the Emmy,ā€ Greenfield joked, referencing Morrisā€™ recent Emmy Award win.

ā€œOh, I thought you were gonna say Menā€™s Fitness,ā€ Deschanel playfully added, mentioning the actorā€™s feature in the publication last year.

ā€œNo, that too, but so happy for Lamorne,ā€ Greenfield added, in a jokingly sarcastic tone.

New Girl ran on Fox for seven seasons from 2011 to 2018. Created by Elizabeth Meriwether, the series followed Jessica ā€œJessā€ Day as she navigated her new norm, living in a loft with three other men, following a devastating breakup. Jake Johnson, Hannah Simone and Damon Wayans Jr. also starred in the series.

The cast has gone on to find great success in the years since New Girl left the air.

For Morrisā€™ own efforts, he won an Emmy Award in 2024 for his work on Fargo. At the time, his New Girl castmates shared congratulatory messages for him on social media. The actorā€™s big win came in the same month he portrayed comedian Garrett Morris in the acclaimed Saturday Night film, which preceded his steamy Menā€™s Fitness feature.

As he reunited with his fellow male New Girl costars for a feature in PEOPLEā€™s Sexiest Man Alive issue in November, the guys playfully ribbed Morris for his Emmy win. Johnson, 46, joked that Morris is the reason a New Girl reunion series canā€™t happen, saying, ā€œLamorne wonā€™t do it after hisĀ Emmy. Heā€™s got an Emmy clause. Thatā€™s real talk. Heā€™s gonna spin it right now but thatā€™s real.ā€

ā€œI look at it like reparations, what Iā€™m due, you know what Iā€™m saying? Hard work,ā€ Morris playfully responded. ā€œYou know what Iā€™m saying? Now, itā€™s time to pay the piper.ā€

Johnson continued, ā€œFox was ready, we were ready. Damon was back and [Lamorne] did that speech.ā€

ā€œA couple more commas, few more zeros. You know what Iā€™m saying? Then, we in business. Weā€™re back in business, baby,ā€ Morris added.
