What have viewers said about Thrash?
After debuting on Netflix on 10 April, many viewers took to Instagram to share their thoughts. âI loved it. I was tense all the way through, but it was great,â said one person, while another said: âI was holding my breath the entire time, so intense. A phenomenal movie. I need THRASH 2.â
Meanwhile, a third penned: âThank you, Netflix. I have been waiting for a movie like this for a long time,â and a fourth added: âI loved the movie. As a thriller/ disaster junkie, it was good.â
What have critics said about Thrash?
The film has not proved such a hit with critics, as it currently sits at a 36% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
In its one-star review, The Guardian penned: âPhoebe Dynevor and Djimon Hounsou are left adrift in a suspense-free dud that has cycled through two distributors and three titles.â
However, Variety did give credit where it was due: âShark movies, because of that derivative quality, often tend to be dreary and claustrophobic affairs. Thrash, on the other hand, has a lively competence about it, a touch of fluid originality in the staging.â
The Hollywood Reporter added: âAs bloody, dumb shark thrillers go, it stays afloat, gaining some credibility from the natural disaster element.â
What is Thrash about?
The Netflix synopsis reads: âWhen a Category 5 hurricane decimates a coastal town, the storm surge brings devastation, chaos and something far more frightening: hungry sharks.â
Who stars in Thrash?
Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton, Fair Play) plays Lisa Fields, a pregnant woman who gets stuck in a car, while Whitney Peak (Gossip Girl, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) plays agoraphobic Dakota Edwards and Djimon Hounsou (Gladiator, Blood Diamond) plays marine researcher Dale Edwards.
Theyâre joined by Matt Nable (Riddick, Arrow) as Billy Olson, Andrew Lees (Unfriended: Dark Web, Mortal Engines) as Joe Sprinkle, Alyla Browne (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Sonic the Hedgehog 3) as Dee and Stacy Clausen (True Spirit, Crazy Fun Park) as Ron.
