While Nathan Fillion is known and loved for portraying John Nolan in the long-running police series, The Rookie, he frequently returns to another fan-favourite character: Green Lantern,
Having first stepped into the role in the live-action Superman movie in 2025, followed by appearances in Peacemaker season 2 and HBOās Lanterns, Nathan will reprise the character once again for the DC animated series, Mister Miracle.Ā
Showrunner Tom King recently confirmed the news, telling Entertainment Weekly: āWe brought Nathan into Mister Miracleās show, and doing that, itās just so wonderful. He brings that energy to every aspect of it. And you would think it would be different tonally from [Lanterns], but it blends because thatās who Guy is.
āHeās that guy who is over the top. We all know that guy whoās a little bit like that,ā he added.
What is Mister Miracle?Ā
Based on the acclaimed comic book series written by Tom King and illustrated by Mitch Gerads, the adult animated series follows escape artist Scott Free, whose life with his warrior wife Big Barda begins to unravel when a war erupts between their two home worlds, Apokolips and New Genesis.
The synopsis reads: āSomething has gone horribly wrong with the perfect life that Scott and his warrior wife Big Barda have built for themselves on Earth. With war raging between their home worlds of Apocalypse and New Genesis, Scottās cruel adoptive father, Darkseid, seems to have finally captured the Anti-Life Equation ā the ultimate weapon that will give Darkseid total dominance over the universe.ā
It continues: āAs the mountains of bodies on both sides grow ever higher, only Mister Miracle can stop the slaughter and restore peace. But the terrible power of the Anti-Life Equation may already be at work in his own mind, warping his reality, exposing his long-buried pain, and shattering the fragile happiness heās found with the woman he loves.

Nathan Fillionās illustrious TV and film career
Nathan made his television debut in 1993ās action film, Ordeal in the Arctic, in which he played Master Warrant Officer Tom Jardine.
His breakout role came the following year, when he was cast as Joey Buchanan in the ABC soap opera One Life to Live, for which he won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series.Ā
This paved the way for a string of leading TV roles, including as Johnny Donnelly in the sitcom, Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place, and Mal in Firefly.
One of his most notable roles was playing the title character in the crime comedy-drama Castle, which ran for eight seasons until 2016.
He currently stars as police officer John Nolan in the hit ABC drama series, The Rookie, which returns with its ninth season next year.Ā
