Natasha Lyonne claimed she was detained by ICE after being booted from her flight for taking a sleeping pill.
Lyonne made the claim after Page Six broke the news that the âRussian Dollâ star was escorted off a red-eye Delta flight.
âIndeed, I took a Lunesta once seated, to ensure some shut eye on the Delta One red eye flight to NYC,â Lyonne wrote on X Friday. âBoarded seamlessly with just a backpack and sneakers, eager for a nap.â
The âOrange Is the New Blackâ alum, 47, explained that she planned to be âbushy tailedâ and âbeauty restedâ as she was scheduled to go straight to a glam session for an appearance on âThe Drew Barrymore Showâ right after she landed.
âWas looking forward to seeing Drew & an in depth convo, but I guess ICE had other plans & I was detained instead,â she said, adding, âSign of the times, I guess.â
Lyonne thanked her fans for their support and said that she has never run into any issues with Delta or TSA in the past.
âHeart is with our unpaid @TSA workers. đđ Apologies to any travelers who were delayed,â she concluded.
As Page Six previously reported, Lyonne was removed from her flight after attending the Season 3 premiere of âEuphoriaâ on Tuesday.
Lyonne seemed âout of itâ while sitting in first class, and she didnât respond when a flight attendant asked her to close her laptop and fasten her seatbelt for takeoff.
Eyewitnesses claimed she was falling asleep behind her sunglasses, and the plane eventually taxied back to the gate.
A Delta staffer who boarded the plane asked if she needed âmedical attentionâ before asking her to de-board the plane.
Lyonne seemed confused and asked where she was before being told that she was still in LA as the flight never took off.
The actress then shushed the gate agent before she calmly walked to the bathroom and emerged eating a bag of pretzels before walking off the plane.
The captain of the plane apologized to the passengers as the flight was delayed for more than an hour.
âWe have a passenger who for whatever reason ⊠wouldnât follow some basic commands ⊠We had a passenger who didnât seem up to the task tonight so thatâs why they were asked to be booked on another flight â I do apologize for the inconvenience, but we will get you to New York as quickly and as safely as possible,â the captain said before the flight took off to New York City without any other incidents.
On Thursday, Lyonne addressed the incident in an X post, saying she was looking forward to Barrymoreâs show but it âwasnât in the cards.â
That same evening, she boldly attended the NYC premiere of âLorne,â where she posed for photos on the red carpet.
Lyonne has publicly dealt with substance abuse in the past and revealed in January that she had relapsed after 10 years of sobriety.
Last month, she told fans she was doing âa whole lot betterâ and was âback on her feet.â
âWant to thank our recovery communities & the fans who stood by & were so supportive,â she wrote on X. âAiming to keep the journey somehow private, but look forward to sharing my experience, strength & hope as makes sense. My heart is with everyone ever going through it.â
