Natasha Lyonne breaks silence after she was ‘removed from plane’

Natasha Lyonne has broken her silence following an alleged plane incident that occurred on Tuesday evening, when the actress was taking a red-eye from Los Angeles to New York after attending the season three premiere of Euphoria. 

According to Page Six, the 47-year-old was escorted off the plane headed to NYC as she seemed “out of it” and didn’t respond when flight attendants asked her to close her laptop and fasten her seatbelt. Natasha was wearing the same pantyhose and sunglasses that she wore to the premiere event, as well as sneakers and a black coat. 

The outlet reported that after several attempts from the crew to get Natasha to comply, the plane returned to the gate, and she was asked to leave. The star then reportedly went to the bathroom before calmly exiting the plane. The flight was delayed for just over an hour as a result. 

Natasha responded to these claims on Thursday afternoon in a post on X, revealing that she had to miss her appearance on Wednesday’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show as a result of the alleged incident. 

“My heart is with all the unpaid TSA agents at our airports,” she began. “Sure was looking forward to speaking honestly with @DrewBarrymore yesterday, but guess wasn’t in the cards. Who owns Page Six/New York Post now again?” 

The Poker Face star has been open about her sobriety journey over the years, after entering rehab in 2006 and choosing to go substance-free thereafter.

Natasha revealed that she had relapsed in a post on X in January, which read: “Recovery is a lifelong process. Anyone out there struggling, remember you’re not alone. Grateful for love and smart feet.”

“Stay honest, folks. Sick as our secrets,” she continued. “If no one told ya today, I love you. No matter how far down the scales we have gone, we will see how our experience may help another. Keep going, kiddos. Don’t quit before the miracle. Wallpaper your mind with love. Rest is all noise and baloney.” 

In March, she shared an update on her recovery journey with fans. “Proud to report this kid is doing a whole lot better and back on her feet. Want to thank our recovery communities and the fans who stood by and were so supportive. Aiming to keep the journey somehow private, but look forward to sharing my experience, strength and hope as makes sense.”

Natasha has had several run-ins with the law in the past, including a DUI charge in 2002 and a missed court hearing in 2006 that sparked a warrant for her arrest. She revealed to The Guardian in 2017 that she was comfortable speaking about her experience with addiction if it helped others in the process.

“I’m such an open book that I have no problem talking about it and speaking freely, but I’ve sort of said my piece on the subject,” Natasha said. “The truth is, at the back of that addiction are feelings that so many of us have, that don’t go away.” 

“Isn’t everyone entitled to a moment of existential breakdown in a lifetime?” she added. “Adulthood is making peace with being kind to oneself when a response to life that’s so much more organic and immediate would be to self-destruct.”
