Nara Smith Is Reliving Her ‘Famous Berries and Cream’ Haircut — and Has a Very Controversial Take on It

Nara Smith doesn’t hate her mini bangs. 

Over the weekend, the 23-year-old internet personality, who garnered her following by making impressive from-scratch recipes, reflected on a hairstyle that wasn’t as loved online as her baking skills.

“I just found this picture of my famous berries and cream haircut,” Smith wrote over an Instagram Story selfie, leaving her face blocked out by the text. 

Smith’s Instagram Story post showed the mother of three with tousled hair.

She continued, “This haircut was tragic but at the same time I don’t hate it.”

The “berries and cream” reference stems from social media users comparing her haircut during a December TODAY show appearance to that of a little lad who loves berries and cream, as seen in a Starburst commercial that aired in the 2000s.

The candy ad featured a man dancing and singing about the flavors in a high-pitched voice while rocking a Lord Farquaad-esq bob and bangs.  

Smith also wore a collared dress similar to the lad’s during her live television show appearance.

In a TikTok shared to her account after her morning show visit, Smith addressed her viral hairstyle while also concocting a home-made hair growth serum.

“A couple weeks ago, I got a haircut that was definitely too short,” Smith said in a Dec. 11 TikTok voiceover. “My bangs are a lot shorter than I want them, and the back of my head is something that I don’t even want to talk about.”

“So, in order to fix it, I need to make my hair grow as quickly as I can,” she explained.

Smith did her step-by-step video, adding argan, jojoba, sweet almond and peppermint oils, as well as vitamin E, to her rosemary-olive oil infusion in hopes of growing her hair to a length that she and her millions of followers could agree on.

In another TikTok video shared around the time of the “berries and cream” memes, the influencer admitted, “I know I said I would chop my hair off for fashion, but I slightly regretted that decision when I saw just how short my bangs were this morning.”

She continued, “So if you see me wearing a hat more than usual, that’s why.”
