Robson stars alongside Jason Watkins in the cat-and-mouse thriller

The Game

Robson delivers a chilling performance in Channel 5’s cat-and-mouse thriller, The Game.

The story follows retired detective Huw (Jason Watkins), who becomes convinced that his new neighbour Patrick (Green) is the serial killer he failed to catch in the one case that still haunts him.

Robson was inspired by American serial killer Joseph James DeAngelo when preparing for the part.

Ahead of season one, the actor, who is “addicted to true crime”, told HELLO! and other press: “I’m really interested in people’s MOs and destructive behaviour and how it destroys other people,” he said. “There was only one man I looked at: Joseph James DeAngelo, the original night stalker in LA.

“He would go into people’s houses and leave the door open, or he would put an ornament from another house in their house and just mess with people’s minds. He’d wait two weeks before he’d go back in and do it again.”

Season one was hailed as “superb” by viewers upon its release in 2025. The show is set to return with a second series, and after the final episode’s dramatic cliffhanger, we’re counting down the days until the new episodes arrive.

Robson appears in seasons four and five of this high-octane action thriller, which boasts an impressive 85 per cent Rotten Tomatoes rating.

Based on the bestselling novel by former British SAS officer Chris Ryan, the series follows the interlinking lives of two men: military hero Hugh Collinson (Andrew Lincoln) and discharged veteran John Porter (Richard Armitage).

The synopsis for season one reads: “On the eve of the invasion of Iraq in 2003, Porter leads a Special Forces unit on a daring hostage rescue mission into the heart of Basra, culminating in a disastrous turn of events for him and Collinson. Porter bears the burden of guilt, with the repercussions haunting him for years, until an opportunity presents itself to return to Iraq and redeem himself. After several years apart, Porter and Collinson’s are about to collide once again.”

The show ran for eight seasons, with Philip Winchester and Sullivan Stapleton taking over as the two leads from season two.

It’s also worth noting that Jed Mercurio, the creator of the BBC’s smash-hit police thriller Line of Duty, was one of the show’s writers.
