A mother says she is upset after her complaint about a fellow mom’s risqué choice of swimwear at a kids’ swimming club was not taken seriously.
In a post on the U.K.-based Mumsnet forum, the woman explained that it’s mostly moms who attend the weekly swimming session at a local leisure club alongside their children, but occasionally, the “odd dad” will also attend.
“Today, one of the other moms was wearing what I can only describe as a thong,” the mother continued in her post, adding: “In fact it was more of a g-string and barely contained her modesty.”
Further detailing that her daughter “pointed” at the woman “when she was walking in the opposite direction and asked where her clothes were,” the mom stated, “I could tell others in the pool had noticed her and didn’t know what to think.”
“Everyone else was wearing all-in-one style costumes or the odd bikini, which actually fits,” added the forum user.
The mom then described the woman’s swimsuit as “inappropriate” to wear around children and likened it to the type of clothing worn by content creators on “OnlyFans.”
But, after she complained about the attire to staff, the woman said she was told that all visitors can choose what they want to wear, as the establishment’s only rule is no nudity.
“They didn’t seem too bothered, and the young female colleague listening in next to her said, ‘It’s nice to see a mom with that much confidence,’ which I felt was rude,” the woman said of the staff members she spoke to.
“It’s not about confidence, it’s about respect,” she continued. “I’ve got home and told [my husband], who thinks I was ridiculous to complain and says he’d be embarrassed to turn up there with me next time we go to the gym together.”

In the comments section, many were divided, with some users arguing that children are often present when people are scantily clad at the beach on vacation.
“Honestly can’t believe you complained! Let her live her life and you live yours. It had zero effect on your ability to swim and enjoy the class!” one person said.
Several others also claimed that the mom’s desire to police the other mom’s swimwear seemed to stem from “jealousy.”
Many others, however, were in agreement with the mother, that swimwear should be modest around children.
“Gross, totally inappropriate at a kids’ session or family area. It’s different being on holiday. She clearly wanted attention with her [ass] hanging out,” one person wrote.
Another said, “I don’t want to see some strangers arse in a public pool when I take my grandchildren swimming. It’s exhibitionism as unnecessary. If I were on a beach, I would be able to move to a different area or not go there at all.”
“The local public pool – no thanks, love,” they continued.
