Millie Bobby Brown Recreates Gwyneth Paltrow’s 1998 Bombshell Red Carpet Look in Sheer Gown

Millie Bobby Brown knows how to channel the greats.

At the premiere of her new film The Electric State on Feb. 27, the actress wore a sheer beaded dress — deeply reminiscent of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Giorgio Armani look at the Shakespeare in Love premiere in New York City.

Whether or not Brown was wearing the exact Armani dress remains a mystery — but she certainly recreated Paltrow’s look.

The dress itself features a straight high neckline and cinches slightly around the waist. The sheer silver material is offset by intricately beaded designs throughout the entire dress. Like Paltrow in the ’90s, Brown paired the gown with a blue shawl.

Brown’s recently blonde hair was styled in loose, voluminous curls, while she opted for a bold yet simple makeup look (which even resembled Paltrow’s!). She finished off the ensemble with statement silver drop earrings.

Brown, 21, shared a three-photo slideshow on Instagram on Feb. 28 — her own look embellished with her signature social media cutout decals, another angle of the entire ensemble and finally Paltrow, then 26, wearing the shimmery dress.

In the second photo, Brown raised her arms with her wrists towards the camera — showing off her “011” tattoo, which she got in September 2023 in honor of her Stranger Things character Eleven.

In her caption, she simply tagged Paltrow.

The actress has faced backlash about her looks recently, with people claiming she appears much older than her 21 years. In response to her new blonde hair — a stark change from her natural medium brown — which she debuted earlier this month, British Vogue ran an article entitled “No One Cares How Old You Think Millie Bobby Brown Looks.” Brown shared a screengrab of the article and wrote “thank you” on her Instagram Stories on Feb. 27.

Even before her hair change, she’s received negative comments about her appearance — including a recent mirror selfie on instagram from Dec. 30.

“Women grow!! Not sorry about it,” she posted in response to the hate.
