Millie Bobby Brown is loving ’90s fashion.

Appearing on the Thursday, March 13, episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the actress showed up in an off-white matching set — which was completely consumed by the voluminous feather lining on her lapel and sleeve cuffs. It took Drew Barrymore a moment to realize, but Brown’s outfit was inspired by a particular ’90s movie character.

“Are you channeling anyone with this look today, may I ask?” Barrymore said.

“Well, I don’t know,” Brown said, a smile slowly growing across her face. “What do you think? I’m channeling a little bit of you.”

“Me? Oh — Josie Grossie?” Barrymore exclaimed, then laughed.

Barrymore’s iconic character from Never Been Kissed wore a very similar getup in the rom-com. She begins her first day as a faux high school student in a flamboyant all-white outfit, ultimately gaining the attention of others in school but also spilling chocolate milk down her white jeans.

“Josie never looked this good,” Barrymore gushed.

Barrymore added that she’s been observing Brown’s red carpet and public appearances — and the looks for each — and noticed she’s been channeling a wide range of beloved ’90s stars. She pulled up a slideshow of a few of Brown’s outfits beside the celebrities she’s drawn inspiration from — including Shania Twain’s leopard-print dress, Baby Spice’s spiky space buns, Pamela Anderson’s golden shirt dress and Gwyneth Paltrow’s sheer dress from the Shakespeare in Love premiere.

Brown revealed she wasn’t just channeling Paltrow, she got to wear the actual Versace dress that Paltrow wore. She asked Brown, “what do you want?” and then shipped the dress to Brown overnight. And Anderson — “Pammy,” as Brown affectionately called her — was “so, so generous” and sent Brown a rack of her clothes.

Wearing the iconic pieces from “blonde bombshells of the ’90s” for her press tours is ultimately about sustainability, Brown shared, but there’s another added benefit.

“I’ve been able to not only wear their clothes, but connect with them and to be able to talk to them,” Brown said. “So it’s been a really cool experience.”
